Newbie here :-)

Hi Everyone! So I'm a newbie. I've been thinking about getting this procedure done since last year but was never really serious until now. I was diagnosed with Non-alcholic fatty liver disease last year and had a doctor tell me I would die if I didn't lose the weight. Nice, right? So needless to say I have switched doctors, and have tried I think every diet under the sun. I weigh 238 right now, which 38 of that has been gained in the past 3 months. How, who knows. I'm really inspired by all of you out there. I've been reading for a couple weeks now and decided that it was time to join and officially meet you all. I went to the seminar back on the 13th, and went in and had my lab work done on the 25th. I'm just waiting on my nicotine test to come back which that have to send out of state. I really think the band is the right choice for me. I hope all goes well.

Good luck and congrats to all of you out there!

Hi, I also have NAFLD, and my GI Dr. advised me to have the lap band proceduer, my liver has become cirrhosis, he said it would help the liver to have the LB, well I still not sure, I need to lose 45 pounds, but if you read some of the post, it will scare you to death, some of the people have a lot of trouble, and I don't need any trouble, exspecially with my liver.

A few question, did your GI Dr. advise you to have the LP? and are your AFT & ALT numbers good?

Keep me posted, I'm waiting to hear from my insurance, and if they will pay, I must make a choice.

Good Luck

I actually haven't been to a GI. It was my PCP who actually recommended the lap band. I know my results for my liver were high, but I'm not to the point you are. Good luck with everything. I hope it all works out.
