Reward when at goal

Recommended Posts

What do you do when you finally get to goal, to remind you of all the hard work -- you got the clothes you want, yep save for the plastic surgery, do you buy the expensive piece of jewllery and remind yourself how far you have come and to never get fat again??? suggestions.

well, personally, I am going to get my tattoos on my back refreshed and redone. And, since I still have them (goodness knows why), I think I'll wear the same jeans as I wore the night I got my first tattoo in 1998.

I think I'll go have a facial and make up and hair done. New color and cut. Then go shopping with the money I hav put aside. I figure I'll save at least $10 to $20 a week not buying junk food. I'll slip it in an envelope and then into my sock drawer and when I reach my goal go shopping up in the outlets in Maine for new clothes.

I figure that's a great reward.

Instead of putting the money in a sock drawer, look into opening some kind of an account. I opened an ING savings account to because I had the same idea that you did only I'm putting away the money i was spending on beer! Anytime I go to a tailgating event I deposit $30 into the account. When I go back to school I am going to have a weekly amount taken from my check and deposited (teachers like to go drinking on Fridays!) That way you don't notice that it's missing and you are getting interest, a lot of these accounts have various incentives as well.

As for what to do with the money (besides plastic surgery) I was thinking

a) a tattoo I've never gotten one, always wanted one but have been to nervous to do it.

 a spa day I'm looking forward to finally fitting into those tiny robes that they give you!

I haven't decided on anything for when I get to goal, but when I get 75# off I want to go to Disneyland. I grew up 12 miles from Disneyland and would go 2 or 3 times a year. Since I've been overweight I haven't gone because I was afraid that I wouldn't fit on the rides. Hopefully I'll be going at Christmas time for my birthday!

Hmmm, good question. Maybe we'll do a big trip. We're thinking of taking DD (2) to Disneyland next March or April (we try to go every few years) but I'm thinking more along the lines of a bigger trip. Maybe a cruise to Alaska or something like that.

I'd also like to get more tattoos so we'll see. Definitely something to think about though!

I am going to Ecuador to see a friend while she works at an eco lodge for a while. From there, I am taking about 4 friends and we're going to go DIVING IN THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS! I am getting certified now so I can get practice and experience before that time.

Oh and I'm also going to reward myself with a trip to IRELAND! I'm going with my best friend in March. Can't wait!

Definately a tattoo, small and discreet. Always wanted one:wink2:.

SPA here I come. I've been so envious hearing friends talk about what a wonderful massage they had. The thought of all this on a table and some stranger touching me :cursing:.

An exotic vacation for me & my hubby. I plan to rock his world:wink_smile:. He has loved me through thick, now it's time for thin.

Couple of things.

1) Going to take my kid to Disneyworld and Universal Studios without the fear of not being able to ride with him

2) Take my wife on a cruise because of all I have put her through and for her being there for me. Do someting she really wants to do, because this whole lifestyle I have had has affected her as well, watching me balloon up and me not caring at the time. I can't imagine how that made her feel watching the person she married simply kill themselves like this and being powerless because I was too freakin' stubborn to care..

3) Finally - get a Corvette. I have been on the lot so many times to get one, but physically entering and exiting the vehicle has shyed me away from it. I have always wanted one through my 20's and 30's, but because of my size, wasn't able to get one comfortably.

So once I hit goal weight, thats the plan.

Once I reach my ultimate goal, have the PS out of the way; a head to toe spa treatment including hair and makeup, then an ultra sexy dress for an ultra sexy weekend with my husband.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
