replacement activities for eating?

I am set to have my lapband in August (pending the psych eval and some labs) and everything else is all set.

One of the questions they asked me in my questionnaire was what will you do instead of eat? I said journaling and writing as those are things I like.

What did you say? What are you doing?

Are you getting ansty for a snack at any time (like when watching tv?)

Thanks!

Putting Crest Whitestrips on your teeth works once a day.

I have started to cook. I used to always have quick meals (read drive thru) and now I plan and cook wonderful meals. I have also doubled the the amount of time I walk the dogs. It was the least i could do for them since they do miss the crumbs from my "free eating" days. :-)

Lots and Lots of PORN. Ha, Just kidding....

I also said writing and listening to my ipod. I'm a music junkie. I started writing lyrics I'm hoping hubby can put to music.

walk the dog, play computer games, sew, swim.....anything that requires movement or the use of my hands so that it makes it difficult to eat at the same time and also that puts my focus on something other than food. I find that if I can refocus on an activity most of the time I forget I was "hungry"!

I am not banded yet but my reply to the same question was to continue to: do my plastic canvas needlepoint, make my 3 dimensional beaded items, sew, exercise and beat the heck out of my bed with a tennis racket.

I spend a lot of time on LBT!!!! It's a great distraction from running into the kitchen to eat!!! I also bought an Mac Laptop this past winter and am organizing photos and making slide shows. I was even asked by someone at the gym to photograph an anniversary party and make it into a slide show.

Sleep.

I've probably slept my way through this past year.

I'm just now waking up. Literally. I don't sleep as much anymore now that I'm on maintenance.
