Considering Surgery

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the whole idea of surgery. I want to learn what's better, the lap band or bypass. What about the sleeve, how is that different from the band? Also, I have no insurance and want to learn what centers in Mexico are credible. I am 198 lbs and 5'2". I also need to learn where to go in the US for follow-up. I live in NY and every place I checked out is very expensive. I've tried every diet in the book and I've gained 3-5 lbs a year for the last 15 years since I quit smoking. I need to do something.

Thanks for your help.

I had my band placed by Dr,. Ortiz in Tijuana. It cast 8500.00. It was a great experience. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. It was clean. He runs a first class clinic. I was happy there and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Have you considered taking a loan out for your surgery. They have special medical loans, also some clinics will do a discount if paid in cash.

I used Dr. Zapata in Monterrey Mexico - it was a fabulous experience...clean hospital, wonderful doctors. I was taken care of from the time I was picked up at the airport til the time I was dropped off again 4 days later. When I got back home, I called the surgeon on his cell phone to ask him a question and he called me back within 5 minutes. When was the last time your USA doctor called you back so quickly?:)
