Question about the band

Hello All!

I am considering the Lap Band for WLS and wondered if anyone could tell me approx. how much weight loss to expect each month?

Thanks!

Pamela.

Pamela,

Welcome. I just got my band on March 30. I have lost 16 lbs so far. I notice the lost has slowed down to about 1 to 2 lbs. a week and that seems to be about average.

1 to 2 lbs a week is average. I slowed to .5 lb to 1 lb a week if that. Sometimes I don't lose at all. Sometimes I gain a pound or two then lose it the following week. I am 13 months out from the surgery too. I have lost a total of approx 55 lbs so far. Others have lost more and still others have lost less. Some have gained half back and others have lost over 100 in the first year. Everyone's metabolism, diet habits, committment, and circumstances are different and therefore the loss will vary.

Average Iwas told was 1-3 lbs a week. I am 13 months post op and have lost 91 lbs, I am 5'5 and started at 265 size 22 I am now 174 and a size 10. Some weeks I would lose and other I would not lose, some weeks I would lose 1 lb and others I would lose 3 lbs, some weeks I would even gain 1/2 to 1 lb ..the band works and the best thing for me personally is I do not feel like I have had to diet in the last year, I'm losing weight and still enjoying food. We all have our own pace but we all are successful in this journey and that is what is great about the band.
