Hello from Maryland

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Sonja. I was banded on January 4th and have lost 44 lbs so far. I've had two fills for a total of 3 ccs. I've had a few problems lately but usually because I eat too fast or bites are too big. I'm looking for a support forum for LapBanders only so I thought I would check this one out!

Thanks for the reply. I'm in Huntingtown (Calvert County). My surgeon is Dr. Andrew Averbach and I had my surgery at St. Agnes in Baltimore. Good luck on your upcoming surgery.

Sonya how was your experience with averbach? I have my orientation with him next monday. I plan on singh for my surgery but am wondering how you liked averbach.

Welcome! I"m from MD too and used Dr. Singh. He was wonderful and continues to be great every time I have an appointment.

Carol thanks for the quick reply I have yet to hear anything bad about that practice. I am aiming for surgery in august wish it was tomorow. Now that I am really ready for it I just wish it would come.

I like Dr. Averbach. He has been very supportive and answers all of my questions. I've been pleased with the practice overall. Good luck with your upcoming surgery and feel free to message me with any quetions.

I'm from Crofton, MD and I have my consultation with Dr. Averbach on July 2nd. I too am aiming for a late Aug/early Sept date. I went to St. Agnes for the seminar in April with Dr. Averbach. Good luck!

Sonja,

I have my first consult with Averbach next week but am really nervous about the insurance approval. Do they help with that? I have heard so much good about that practice. I am in Harford County and there is a surgery center about 5 minutes from me but I chose to drive to St. Agnes because of the reputation.

Yes. They took care of everything with the insurance company. I didn't have to do anything once I provided them with the supervised diet information they submitted everything. Good luck.

Hello everybody, this is my first post.. guess that make me a newbie. I have not received my surgery date yet. I'm still seeing my Nutrionist. My six month with be up September 3rd. How long does it normally take for you to get approval once you have your letter stating you complted your six month supervised appointments? I'm very glad to have found this site.. opps I'm also from Maryland. I live in Suitland, which is in Prince Georges County. I'm having my surgery and George Washington Hospital and the doctor is Dr. Brody.
