Banded for 1 Week

Hi, I was banded on May 22, 2008. I did two weeks of a protein shake diet before my surgery and only lost about 8lbs. I have lost about 5 more since the surgery. (13 in total). Since I was banded last week, I have been starving and not just in my mind, my stomach is constantly growling. I was told I would not be hungry the first week, but I feel extremely hungry. I also seem to get alot of heartburn, which I never had before. My doctor has a liquid diet for 21 days after surgery....I am sticking to it...but ready to knaw my arm off....anyone else going through this?

Hey there - this is my first post - reply actually - I was banded May 22nd also! For the heartburn I've been using the gas-x patches & they are helping a lot. I've been drinking about 4-6 cans strained minestroni or alphabet soup a day & that's keeping the hunger at bay. Hang in there - you are definately not the only one with these same questions! Best of Luck

My doctor requires me to take prilosec twice a day for 3 months. I have never suffered from heartburn or acid reflux...but he said it was a requirement for all of his patients. Perhaps it would benefit you to call the doctor and tell him that you are having problems with heartburn. He's had me on them since the day after surgery...and I haven't had any problems swallowing the pills. I do cut them in half though.

I was banded on May 21st. I've lost 12 lbs. so far. But I'm hungry too! I'm not gonna lie, I have cheated a time or 2. But mostly because I feel the need to chew on something. I'm kinda tired of sipping on soup. Only another week on liquids though...don't think I can take much longer than that...
