My name is Mary and after avoiding my weight issue my whole life I am starting this journey of l/b surgery.

I'm frustrated that after finally taking the leap to get healthy and drop tonnage that my ins. is making me go through 6 months of dietician management before reviewing to approve this procedure.

I'm going to be turning 40 at the time the surgery should be taking place if all goes as planned. I guess I'm mad at myself for not confronting my weight sooner.

So here I am; the best is yet to come... right?:confused2:

Hi Mary, and welcome. The insurance hoops can be frustrating, but, unfortunately they are a necessary evil. In the meantime, you can concentrate on learning as much as possible about the band and preparing yourself for life with the band. And, of course, you can chat with us here at LBT!

The only alternative to the 6 month supervised weight loss program is to go with self-pay. So, it is probably worth it to go through the program! Honestly you will learn some great habits during the 6 months that will be VERY helpful after you have the band. Good luck - and enjoy the journey!
