I did it!

Hi all! I did it. I am a bandster now.

I had my band placed on Friday in Mesquite. I have to say that the hospital staff was really great.. better than I had expected. They were so nice there and now I understand why they have a 100% satisfaction rate.

I was so afraid that I would be in major pain and would not be able to swallow or have those crazy complications. But, luckily I have had NONE!

I am a bit sore.. and thats it..and 2 of my staples came out.. but no biggie.

I can swig Protein Drinks and Water with no problems.. I am actually afraid i am too loose.. but.. i wont complain.. i couldnt handle being one of those who cant swallow their own saliva. i have even worked my way into malto meal.

anyway, just wanted to update and tell those who are afraid that it isnt as bad as i feared. i was panicked. but.. the fear was worse than the actual pain. the worst part was the shot in my tummy of heparin before surgery and the nasty barium drink that made me want to hurl after surgery in the radiology room... but otherwise A OK! now i cant wait to lose some weight.

i am only down 1 freakin pound.. bummer.

Good for you!!! I'm so jealous. You said...

"i couldnt handle being one of those who cant swallow their own saliva."

I have been one of those and too loose is MOST DEFINATELY better!!!! I'm so happy it's going well for you. Dont' worry, I promise I would rather have lost 1 pound than to have been through a rough recovery, so don't be discouraged by your numbers. You will get there! Thanks for keeping us posted! Congratulations!!!
