Sick!!

I cannot believe this. Yesterday was my birthday and what did I get? A cold! I spent last night with a fever, sore throat, and runny nose  My pre op is tomorrow morning! What do I do? It's not really bad but my throat is really scratchy. I heard about the nepi pot. Where do I find one? I took a million vitamins and will get some tylenol cold today. Any other ideas? pray for me please

If you can't find a neti pot at one of the local stores, try going to the nearest drugstore and getting saline nose drops. You can tilt your head back and squirt that stuff right up in there. If it's not super cheap, just buy one bottle and refill it yourself.

Another option is to go to the baby aisle and get a "snot sucker" -- it's a bulb with a fairly narrow tip since it needs to fit in baby's nose. Fill that with Water (or salt water) and you can squirt it right up your nose to wash the gunk out.

I gargle with apple cider vinegar or regular old listerine to try and kill stuff sitting in my throat when I have a sore throat, although if it's just sore from postnasal drip then there's not much you can do but drink lots of fluids to wash that stuff out.

And stay away from milk -- it'll thicken the mucus.

Good luck with your pre-op tomorrow!!

make sure to tell your doc if you're feeling any illness. my surgery was scheduled on a monday and i caught some sort of stomach bug the weekend before - had a fever and everything. i spoke to my doc the night before surgery and he recommended holding off a week so that i was in good health before banding.

needless to say, i was SUPER disappointed. but i had it done a week later and it was probably a good thing that i waited until i was no longer sick. see what your doc thinks. best of luck.

I know i shouldnt go under the knife sick. Did that once before and I came out worse than I went in. I just hope I get rid of it miraculously over night. It would be really hard for me to reschedule it. I timed it perfectly with work.

4 vitamin B complex pills and 4 vitamin E pills. Check.

2 Tylenol Cold Multi Symptom pills. Check.

1 packet of nasty airborne. Check.

2 nasty tablespoons of thera flu. Check

1 vapor shower thingy. Check.

Cough Drops,Check

If that doesn't make me better, it will, at the very least, turn me into a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
