I would think you would still be approved because you did as you were told. I think it proves even more that you need the surgery. I wish you luck though.

Hi! I gained weight before my surgery, too. My doctor did not tell me I had to loose any before hand. I took advantage of that and ate everything I knew I wouldn't eat after the surgery. My insurance didn't give me any trouble at all. Don't worry, any weight you gained will melt away after surgery (as long as you follow your post op instructions!). I was banded 1/31/08 and have lost 47 lbs. so far. Believe me, if I can do it, so can you!!! Good luck with your surgery and your weight loss journey!!!

My insurance company told me that they do not look at the amount of weight lost. What they do look at is your compliance & dedication on whether you have kept every appointment and done everything that was requested for approval through them.

In fact, I lost very little during my 6 month physician supervised diet and I was approved. Good luck on your journey!

I was wondering if you lost weight during that 6 months if the insurance would approve you. Seems like they might think if you can do it during that 6 mos, why would you need the surgery.

I was told not to loose weight during my 6 month diet I am on my 5th month now and I actually gained 2 pounds I am being told by the center that this is not a problem its only a problem if you loose weight to put you below the 40 BMI. So I would not worry about it :)
