Jump Start Metabolism

Hi, I have had the band since June 07 and have lost weight rather slowly. I have lost 45 lbs with doing tons of exercise. The band certianlly has been only a tool for me. I am at a plateau finding it hard to make the scale move. I have heard that if you do a colon cleanse it can jump start your metabolism, but I am not sure if that is true. Some of my friends swear by it saying that they feel so much less bloated and full of energy. Has anyone heard this or done it ? I looked at the health food store and everything is in pill form and they are huge. Wonder if regular fiber is the same as the herbal formulas ? Thanks I suppose I am just desparate to get the scale moving but if there is any truth in it I would try it. Thanks for reading this I always appreciate the thoughts of others

I went to a Naturopathic doctor on February to get some real medical advice on a colon cleanse. She recommended a 21 day liver cleanse program called mediclear. I lost 7 pounds during the 21 days, since then I am taking subling b12, vitamin D drops, flaxseed oil and fish oil. Also I cut out aspartame/nutrasweet, and artificial sweeteners. I am now losing about 1.6 pounds a week. I recommend finding a naturopathic doctor who will give advice based on your medical history, any meds you take, etc etc. I am certain that this is not a "one size fits all" solution. Good luck !

Hi:

I had a colonoscopy a couple of months ago. When you prepare for that they have you do this cleansing thing. It's all stuff that's available at all pharmacies. It tastes horrible, but it surely clears out your intestines. I forget what the nasty stuff is called, something like phosphate. Anyway, if you do a search on colonoscopy and the prep for it you'll find the names of it. I think you do a liquid diet for a day. Then, the second day you drink the nasty stuff and a few hours later the bathroom trips start. Make sure you've got access to the bathroom for 12 hours before you take it. You wouldn't want to be anywhere but home. Drink lots of liquids too.

Good luck.

uhhhh, have you ever gone back to your lapband doctor for a fill? Most of my friends who had surgery only went back to their doctor once for a fill and to this date, have not lost weight and they are wondering why... I had myself banded on January 07 and already reached my goal weight, no exercise, just purely following Doctors orders, getting myself filled once every two months. My 10 cc band is at 9 cc filled. Believe me, when you get filled, and hit your sweet spot, you don't have the time and energy for exercise...
