constipation
Quite frankly, after being banded, I felt really grossed out because I wasn't going regularly- or my regular defecating would be once a week. I really went to my doctor and asked. Its because we don't eat as much as we did before... Good luck and don't worry too much. Lani- banded January 18, 2007

Hello Everyone
Crystal, where you banded this year? It really takes a while to get use to the new you. Remember the old cliche- OLD HABITS DIE HARD!!! I am up to date- addicted to chips and coca-cola!!! Coca-cola does not go well with the band- the fizz just goes up to the nose... so you just have to learn to just STOP! Good luck and enjoy the adventure- Just don't forget to get filled once in a while- this really keeps our weight down!

Doctor couldn't find my port
i didn't know that getting filled was just done in the clinic! Mine was always done under the radiology department with the help of a flouroscope! Either there is something with your Doctors way of doing his fill or I am a glowing patient due to RADIATION!!! (Ninja turtles here I come!)

cjean
cjean- losing lots of hair is one of the side effects of the lapband. (not all, go through this, however, seek a nutritionist for this problem. Its the rapid weight loss you are experiencing.) Nutritionist will put you back on track. Hope I helped and eased your anxiety.

Who here has had their band the longest?
Hello new bandsters. I had my band placed last January 18, 2007. I have not experienced any "slipping", I have discussed this with my Doctor, post op because I read here that there were some band slippage. Usually this happens when you regurgitate often. However some bands are placed well, and no matter how many times you up chuck, no slippage occurs. Good luck to you. Lani from the Philippines.

Too Tight or Just Right
Coachcher- I was filled up to 7 and a half cc. It was just too tight. From a 245 lbs patient- I got banded January 18, 2007 and last august 22, I was 133 lbs. I went for another fill ( I am 5'2") so my ultimate goal was a 110 lbs. Well my 1cc fill brought my weight down to a 115 lbs within 3 days! I just could not keep anything down, even Water. 3 weeks later, I had to fly out to manila to get an emergency decompression as ordered by my lapband doctor. I was dehydrated and it was just plain scary because going to the bathroom and going back to my bed was a huge chore for me. When I got my unfill, I suffered from edema for 3 weeks, bad gas, flatulence everyday, acid reflux, plus my urinalysis showed that I was peeing albumin already. I had to see a nutritionist and a gastro doctor. I was ordered to gain weight ASAP! Like an anorexic patient, I was ordered not to weigh myself. I am back to a whooping 155 lbs and scheduled for another fill, My family is scared that I might go to the same experience again. I trust my Doctor that he will guide me through this. What a journey this has been. As the old cliche goes, "what won't kill me, will just make me stronger."

I had to get a complete unfill
Good day. I was ordered to get an emergency decompression (unfill) of 4 cc. last August. I was 133 lbs and after 3 days of being adjusted (filled) my weight dropped to 115. Everything went well, however after 3 weeks- I was an ANOREXIC looking being- DEHYDRATED and shrivelled up. My doctor decompressed me, i suffered EDEMA for 3 weeks. I had to work with a gastroenthrologist and a nutritionist. I was ordered to GAIN WEIGHT with a prescribed diet of the NUTRITIONIST!!! I was ordered as well not to weigh myself like an anorexic patient! I am now in my heavy 155 pounds and to get my 1cc fill. Just follow your Doctors order. They know what they are doing. Am so happy with my Doctor, he really takes good care of me and my health.

When going to a restaurant, what do you order?
you feel something stuck somewhere in your esophagus!!! you don't know whether to drink or chuck it up!!! I usually toss it up! Relief is faster that way.

When going to a restaurant, what do you order?
Donna- I think we bandster do have that "day" I am usually good for a month of not craving for anything, however when I crave, I really get down dirty!!! Ok people, no sneering and no commenting on what I am about to type next. I usually crave for Regular Coke and Cheesy stuff life chips. (I don't know why, but chips seem to go down really smoothly!!!) Coke however has the reverse effects- It goes up really fast!!! But thats just it, I think we are allowed to cave in once in a while for our cravings- even real people have cravings and they are allowed to eat their "humble pie" once in a while. what you think? When going to a restaurant, what do you order?
I agree with you Debbie! My Doctor told me to stay away from creamy soups. I can't eat anything from Mickeydees!!! I thought chewing on nuggets really slow would do the trick- duh.... its chicken... I regurgitated the stuff- fries??? only 3 pieces, MAX!!! honestly, from this thread, I am learning a lot from the feed back of the people. Thank you everyone.

Julie Geraci - goes for plastic surgery 4/21
Julie- how are the thighs doing? are the bruising gone? I can't wait to see the pictures!!! Hows your bellybutton? That is one of my biggest concern when I get my tummy tuck- I am going to ask my Doctor to show me the after pictures of his patients- just to check out their belly buttons! LOL. I am so glad that you are up and about.

Jump Start Metabolism
uhhhh, have you ever gone back to your lapband doctor for a fill? Most of my friends who had surgery only went back to their doctor once for a fill and to this date, have not lost weight and they are wondering why... I had myself banded on January 07 and already reached my goal weight, no exercise, just purely following Doctors orders, getting myself filled once every two months. My 10 cc band is at 9 cc filled. Believe me, when you get filled, and hit your sweet spot, you don't have the time and energy for exercise...

When going to a restaurant, what do you order?
Its so nice to hear about choices. Somehow, my tummy does not like chicken- it will take a few red meat and pork, however, chicken, goes up really fast!!! anyone have the same experience?

When going to a restaurant, what do you order?
whew... thats nice to hear from the two of you! When my son's eat pizza, I end up picking on the toppings and making sure i chew well. It really is a task eating out... any of you try eating sushi with nori??? (the seaweed?) very very hard to digest!!!

When going to a restaurant, what do you order?
I would like to ask my fellow bandster, when you do go to a restaurant, what would you order? It takes me now a long time to review the menu, you want to make a sound choice when ordering food, knowing you can only eat so much. I haven't learned how to eat salad, the last time I ate one was 8 months ago, and I balled over, the lettuce got stuck in my stomach and it was so painful, ever since, I never ever wanted to eat lettuce again. So far, am good with soups, but is that all I will ever eat in a restaurant???

Question for long-timers
I am near my goal, 6 pounds to go! My Doctor, who has become a good friend of mine, has told me that he wouldn't do any more fills for me because I might end up underweight. I honestly think like anything we get into, we have to be disciplined enough to watch what we are doing, I have to admit, I really am a FOOD ADDICT!!! I love the taste of food- Thank God for the band, my food intake is restricted and if I go overboard, I upchuck things... (my son calls me bullimic, which is not a good thing!!!) However I feel everyone's sentiment, what if you start packing in the pounds, and your 10cc band is almost full, then what do you do???
