Hi all i'm the new guy

I got my band 3/11/08 from Dr. Michael Wood From ABMI at detroit medical center I was going to get my first fill today 6 weeks post op and my Dr called and told me he has a new policy and will only be doing fills once a month and so don't come in till may 31. I will be 10 weeks post op this dosn't sound right. I've lost 38 pounds since I was banded but I'm getting hungry and eating more. I called my Dr. and he told me to have will power. my surgury was $27000.00 since he got paid I feel he is blowing me off what should I do. I don't want to take a step backward

I would call back the Dr and tell him or his staff You are hungry and your will power is working but you feel you need a fill .. complain if you have to.. Ask why he changed things?? Why after you paid more than most of us does he want you to wait longer??? After $27,000 I would make sure I got what I paid for.... Good luck..

What I don't understand about your doc's new policy is that they implemented it without warning. I could see saying, "Beginning in June . . . "

I also wonder what caused the change in policy. Is the practice so busy that they think this is the only way to organize things?

No matter what you paid, you deserve care. You could call and schedule a "having a problem" appointment and see what happens there. You cannot be the only patient complaining about this.

My other thought is that waiting will not cause too much damage. I guess it all depends on how much of a squeaky wheel you want to be :)

Best of luck.

My surgery with everything is going to be 17,000 for everything and fills will be seperate. I'm going through insurance though. I'd just keep calling and saying you feel really hungry and don't want to set yourself back after going so far and doing so well. For now I'd drink lots of liquids to help ease the hunger. Other than that I don't know what to tell you.
