Our month is FINALLY here! I wanted to post a thread where our newly banded May Flowers and Shrinko de Mayos could check in and let us know how everything went.

I hope that our May 1st surgeries went wonderfully! I can't wait to hear from you all!

Congrads!!! to all the brave May bandsters that went first. I'm getting excited now (May 13th). I think it was a great idea to get all of our feedback on our surgery in one place. I'll post here to

OK we have the best bunch of bandits ever..So happy to hear everyone is doing so well .. I get so excited with each new entry ... May is a great month for us ..Take care and let yourself mend well .One day maybe we will all meet up somewhere and tell our life stories .Before and after.. So happy for us all ..

I am happy that all of the fellow may bandsters are doing well and that the recovery time has been excellent. I have only taken 5 days off until I go back to an active on the feet for 12 hour shifts. Cant wait till the 15th :)

Great to hear you are doing well feelgoodagain. Did you talk to your doctor about the port site? I have heard other people say that they talked to their doctor and asked them not to have the port near where their bra might be. Any problems with wearing a bra? (don't mean to get too personal!!) :)

Terri

Terri, I think everyone is alittle sorer..is that word?..ha. Anyway, My port site is really about right in the middle between my bra line and my waist line. So, its pretty much right in the middle. I think it is where I bend the most. But, I am sure it will get better with each day. Tomorrow is a week since surgery and I can't believe what I am able to do already. I don't see my doc until next Friday. I am actually coming down with a pretty bad sore throat so, I think I will be calling the nurse tomorrow to find out if I need antibiotics...My throat hurts so bad. I thought at first it was because of the tube they put in your throat during surgery but, it keeps swelling up and i also have a cough...which can be painful sometimes. But, I am at work and for the most part things are all good. Just taking it a little slower then usual. :frown:

Glad to hear you are doing well! I heard someone comment that when they have to cough, they cough while holding a pillow to their abdomen. Of course, you can't carry a pillow around with you everywhere (or maybe you can!!), but it should help at home! Let me know if it works!~ :frown:

I was banded Monday 5/5/08 - I told the group I was with that we were called the Shrinko de Mayos. They loved it. Spent the night in the hospital, and home by 4 pm the next day. Today I got to have protein. Walked around the block today. Feeling pretty good except sore when I get up or go to sit back down. Looking forward to a new life. But I don't really feel like I have a band yet. But I am staying to small amouts of liquids. Not sure if thats the band or just not feeling up to eating yet.

Got my band yesterday at 10am. Came home at 3p. It went really good, and fast! My main hurt is gas pains in left shlder which radiates into my neck and lower belly. I tried plain tylenol yesterday but had to go back to the prescribed pain med. It knocks me out because of the phenergan in it. I work at home for BCBS so at least I can take interval walks today. I slept in my high bed. Slept pretty well. I woke up feeling a fever, but it was 97.4. I'm praying more fluids will do the trick.

Got my band May 5th at 9:30, went home at two. I still have a lot of pain where my port is if I move around. my port is about an inch above my waistline. I am already tired of protein drinks.

Bit sore, ok A LOT sore. I was first in line for surgery yesterday. But an ER case went ahead of me, so I had to wait a bit longer.

Was home by 2pm ... slept on and off most of the day. Walked around .. I have been drinking Water and had a bit of broth. Gonna try more broth today and less pain meds. LOL

So glad that besides the soreness everyone is doing great!!! My doctor confirmed my surgery today for the 29th at 10 a.m. I just want it to come!!!! Congrats again everyone!!! Thanks for being inspirations to those of us just waiting, ever so not patiently!

Well, today is day 2 post-op, although it feels like 3 or 4-ha!

Most of my outside belly gas is gone. Felt like I was pregnant again with it moving around. Now I have belly gas. I'm trying to lay off the good pain med so my bowels will wake up. So far, tylenol's doing the trick. Just achy in my left shlder from the gas. Sore and touchy at my port site...which is 2inches up above bellybutton, 2inches to the right. They used super glue for that incision. Then I have 2-4 staples in my other 4. I was able to bend over to sweep into the dust pan!!!

My appetite's coming back just a wee bit so I''m enjoying my protein jello and kool-aid. They each have 16gms protein so it keeps my hunger down. My nutritionist wants 40gms consumed this 1st week. I'm glad because the thought of pizza feels really good right now-ha!!

Hey neverB4,

It's my 2nd day, also. All of my cuts were super glued -- no staples! I had the shoulder pain for about 4 hours after surgery, and then it went away! I started massaging my shoulder in the recovery room and didn't stop until it was gone. I don't know if that helped or not, but it felt good. I also feel like I just had a baby, my belly is so big! I'm a little sore, but not in any pain. But gassy!!!! (Stand back, LOL!) Glad to know we are on our way!!!!

I'm home, I survived, and I'm very, very sore. Hocked up on drugs right now so I'll have to right more later. It's hard to type when you're looking at 2 or 3 of the screen!

How many fingers am I holding up ??? Glad you're on the road to recovery!!!
