Hypothyroidism and Lap Band surgery

I am brand new to this process. I haven't attended any meetings or seminars...but I had a question about having thyroid issues and having this surgery...My PCP has mentioned gastric bypass before and we've talked about it, but it was waaaay too invasive for me to follow through with...and I haven't really discussed the LP procedure with him. I've got an appt. w/ him soon though to start the discussing process.

Has anyone been denied due to having thyroid issues?

I have hypothyroid and I was approved. I have it under control with a pill and have for about 6 months. It didn't come up as an issue for denial. I was just banded on the 15th. My insurance was great and everything weny smothly. I think it may depend on you doc as well as your insurance. lots of luck to you!!
