  1. I was banded in 2008 as well. Lost 100lbs in the first two years. Had a slight slip & had to be unfilled. Got a fill of 1cc a year ago. Gained back 40lbs in two years. Just saw my doc and he wants an upper GI which wasn't done b4 the 1cc fill. Still having issues from time to time with things getting stuck. Anyway long story short. I too went done to 1000 cal diet and busted my butt at the gym 5 days a week. Elliptical, running, and some light weight training. I've had the 5lb yoyo too!! Weight seemed to fly off the first two years. Did some thinking and research and discovered that I have one difference Carbs. I was eating carbs and two years ago I wasn't. I just cut the simple carbs, (sugar& whites) and I'm down 6lbs. I'm also feeling a LOT better. Good luck! You'll find what work for you. You're certainly going about it the right way. Be proud! You're doing great!
  2. Met with my Dr. Today. He tolde to get lean and green instead of doing all liquids. I have 1 cc in a 4cc band and have a hard time with dry chicken. He wants me to get an upper GI to make sure band is in the right spot. Im feeling a little frusterated. I ate a salad tonight for dinner. It was soo good, but I almost feel like I cheated.- lol I kind of liked the control having only liquids gave me. Maybe, I'll do liquids a couple days then lean and green. Back and forth? Argh!!! So much easier when there are NO options!!! Thanks for the venting... All positive now...
  3. Made it another day. I see my doctor tomorrow. I have to say that cooking for the family has been sooo hard!!! I had to go to the grocery store today after work and I felt a little overwhelmed looking at all those foods...I did eat a sugar free pudding today. Is that food? I kida feel like it is, but I remember eating them after surgery. Getting my workouts in and keeping my calories under 600. Wow!!! keep on keepin on!
  4. Thank you all! I just got some band buddies on My Finess Pal so now I'm accountable to other people(other than mom and hubby). Made it today on liquids also did my morning workout! I have an appointment with my doctor scheduled. as of this morning I now have 60( not the 50 i thought) to lose, but that's from my past actions...Right?! WE WILL DO THIS!!!! And keep doing this!-lol
  5. I so want in on this!! I've been banded 4 years became complacent and stopped losing. I've go 50lbs to go and I want to get back on track!! All about liquids tomorrow!
  6. I can COMPLETELY relate to your feelings. I was so scared the first few weeks after surgery, but as soon as I got to chew something the anxiety went way down. I have found that I don't think about food as often as I used to. Also, I can eat anything now, just in moderation. I really hope this will be the case with you and your terrible feelings will fade away as your life gets back to normal. Good luck! I'll send positive thoughts your way!!!!
  7. Hi Lucy! I have the same sized band. Got my fill to 2.3 on Friday. I have restriction, but not as much as I'd like. I can eat more but have chosen to stop. I honestly worry that there will come a time when I don't have the will power to stop. I won't see my doc for another two months so lets hope it doesn't happen before then- lol. My doc did say that the band moves up and down so restriction can vary from time to time. He also said that he's given fills and everything has been fine and two days later the patient couldn't get down water. Hope this helps a little. And I wish you restriction from the band gods soon.-lol I also posted on you message board. Hope you find it . I swear I haven't forgotten my band buddy. :leaving::redface::sneaky:
  8. Wow, I've got my first visit on May 16th. I was rweally hoping for a fill because I am sooo hungry. I still haven't gotten off liquid though and won't until May 6th. Might be pure torture to go back on liquids that soon -lol. I'm glad it has been painless for so many. I made my husband take off work to go with me for some hand holding. can't wait to feel restriction!!!
  9. hi! I am in Arcata. Don't know if you'd still like to share. The post looks kind of old. anyway let me know if your interested. mariah
  10. CONGRATS! How are you feeling? I was banded on 4/15 and I am just starting to feel myself. the liquid diet is a little intense, but at the end of the day when I am lying bed I relize that it really wasn't so bad after all. It sounds like your goal may not be too far off. There are lots of people on this site that have lost lots of weight by their bandaversary. i know I would love to lose 80-100 in a year. Shoot, overnight would be great lol. I need to start my exercise program. I know that will only help me reach my goal faster!! Take care and good luck! Mariah
  11. wow Indigogirl55, you are sooo close to your goal weight. Congratulations! You go Girl!!!
  12. WOW! What a difference. You look great. Congratulations! Has your energy level increased too?
  13. I'd love to get the recipe for the crustless quiche. It'll bee a while before I can do mushies...but it sounds good. Thanks! -Mariah
  14. I have hypothyroid and I was approved. I have it under control with a pill and have for about 6 months. It didn't come up as an issue for denial. I was just banded on the 15th. My insurance was great and everything weny smothly. I think it may depend on you doc as well as your insurance. lots of luck to you!!
  15. Gina, Thanks for getting this going. How are you doing? Everyhting going okay post op? Did I see that you were banded in Mexico? This is going to be great to see everyone moving down the scales! Thanks again, Mariah
  16. I was just banded on 4/15/08. I am doing well. Some pain and some crying fits like- what the heck did I do? But I'm done with my pity party and ready to get on with things. I gained 10lbs just from having the surgery. Doc said that it was from all the iv fluids and that it was normal. anyone else have that happen. I am thankful to say the added weight officially left today and I'm down 3 pounds since pre-op. Nice to say goodbye to the numbers once and for all!! I am shocked to have not three but fours weeks of liquids.I guess its from the repair of my hyatel hernia. I would love to chew on something!!! Sounds like everyone is doing well. I am so thankful to have found this site to "talk" to others in the same boat. Take care and keep LOSIN.-Mariah
  17. I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you've gone through so much recently. I can't imagine. I just wanted to say that I totally understand the loss your feeling over food. It was both my best friend and my worst enemy. I was banded on 4/15/08 and haved cried several times.I go through bouts of hunger but my drinks seem to fill me up. But, I am soooo sick of them. I also would love to have something to chew. The only couple of things keeping me going are... 1 I don't want to end up back in the hospital because I've seriously injured myself with food of all things. 2. I know that my four weeks of liquid are so small in the huge picture of things. Life can only get better-right? I am marking the days off my calendar. Can't wait to move on to the pureed stage-lol. Really though I hope things get better for you. Just think how happy you'll be to reach your goals and be without the diabetes. My thoughts and prayers are with you. -mariah
  18. You sound like your doing great! My surgery is Tuesday and I've been feeling so nervous all week. Not nervous enough to back out, but I feel slightly nausiated all the time. Good Luck to you!!!
  19. Just signed up for the April Avengers. What a great idea. I had no idea there are so many April dates ou there. How fun. I am being banded by Dr. Cirangle in San Jose California. SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!
  20. Thank you to all the people out there that have congratulated me. We'll have too keep in with progress. I'm so gald I found this web site. Lots of much needed support. :scared2::sad:
  21. I've been approved! My dorctors office faxed the paperwork Monday. I hadn't heard anything so I gave the office a call. Nothing yet so I called the pre autorozation department directly and they said it was approved. I will be having my band April 15, 2008. I am so excited. No clue how I'm going to sleep tonight. What a relief. I am so thankful!!!!
  22. I am in northern California, about 5 hours north of SanFrancisco. I can totally relate to your story about thinking you were fat and weren't. Seems funny now. Today was so frustrating. My coworker was telling me about a diet pill she just started. She said maybe I should put the surgery off and try it. The funny thing is that I was already on it about 3 years ago. I gained all the weight back plus some. I just want a permanent solution. I know that everyone wants to help, but I've made up my mind. After, a 15 minute conversation about how she thought I should rethink my decision, I gave up. I'm having a hard time talking to people about this at work. I'm wondering if I should have kept it to myself. How was day 3 of your liquid? Have you heard anything from the insurance company yet? Your date is set for the 5th, right? I saw that someone else on this forum got their approval on the insurance web site. I searched mine, but couldn't find a place for pre aproval. I just got my kids in bed and now its my time to relax.
  23. I've enjoyed chatting with you. Do you live in New York? I am out here in california. How is your liquid going? AARRGG!! My time is comming. It's all worth it. I just hope this band gives me the control I need. I can't wait to be "me" again. I long for Energy!! I've been wondering what my energy level will be like with caloric intake of 400 - 800 calories per day. Seems sooo low. I'm not complaining- just a little curious.
  24. Yes, my boys are wonderful and very loving, especially my oldest. He is very attached to his mommy. My yongest is a little more rough and tumble. I have to travel out of town to have the surgery and am hoping they will do okay with it. I will also be out of town the week before for work. They really aren't used to me being gone. I don't want to tell them about the surgery because I don't want them to worry, but its amazing what kids pick up on. How are your children dealing with your surgery? Have you talked to them about what is going to happen? My kids always want me to sit with them until they are done eating. Infact, thats when most of my overeating occurs. Should be interesting. It sounds like it will take lots of time to get through all the chewing though. How is your liquid diet going? Are you doing the protien drinks? Hope all is well!!
  25. we just set the date tody for the surgey. Still no word from the insurance company. I wanted to get it done asap so we set the date. Hopefully, I won't need to reschedule. Thank you for you great advice. I,ve gotten some books and they have helped too.
