Does anyone have a suggestion for a doctor in Mexico? Please - I am trying to do my research. I just feel so lost.

Yes, Dr. Ortiz is one of the docs that started FCUSA. A much needed service for those who were banded in Mexico, or have moved and can't find a doc to do their fills. I LOVE my fill doc, I can get an appointment anytime. Only problem is he is nearly 6 hours away!

If you are claiming you graduated from Harvard, it would seem that you would have insurance that covered weight loss and wouldn't need to go to Mexico for surgery. Of course, I'm sure that is just another spin on your unbelievable story.

I recently decided to begin my endevour into lapbanding and I have spent about 8hours of the last week doing research and I don't plan do get banded until the end of the year. Look what community college did for me Harvard man.

I find your stereotyping incredibly to the Mexican surgeons who spent just as much time getting their education as what the U.S. doc did.

Hey Harleymom, I live in TN and theres an Accredited Dr. hear that does the lapband here for $13000 that includes all expenses and 1 year of fills and xrays. If your having a problem with funding have you tried CareCredit? I've gotten a $12000 healthcare credit with them also CapitolOne Healthcare credit. The only requirment from Dr. Huerta is a psych eval. I hope this helps anyone out there that needs the surgery and cant get approved by their insurance. It did for me and now in a months time I will be banded.

i had plastic surgery in mexico. i love it there. my eyes look fantastic. i just had 3 nurses come into my office to look at my eyes. they all agree that they have never seen such good work before........ im liking it.......... viva la mexico

Cosmos, I am really sorry that you have had to go through so much and have nothing but the physical and psychological scars to show for it. It would be nice if you could get some kind of bariatric surgery to help you. There are other options, I'm not sure of your financial situation and insurance availability though.

I would like to clear something up, I did not say that a Harvard grad would not go to Mexico for a Doc. One obviously did! I said a Harvard grad would not go to Mexico without researching their doc. The key is not what country it is in, it is the doctor that is chosen. I wouldn't choose a doc in the U.S. without researching them.

If the U.S. has such superior medical care then explain to me why malpractice insurance is so high. It only got that way because of the inferior medical care that is sometimes received. I admit that we live in a litigious society, however it wouldn't have gotten that way if their weren't cases of real medical negligence in the first place.

Sometimes people spend more time choosing a new car then what Doc they go to and when it goes wrong they want to blame everything on the doc's. You wouldn't buy a car sight unseen, not knowing it's mileage or if it has anything wrong. Why wouldn't research you doc too.

I agree in accountability for medical negligence, but we need to stop associating the initials M.D. with God. They are not God's and they are not without error. It is the patients responsibility to ask questions, express concerns, and look elsewhere when things aren't right.

I respect your opinion about your surgery experience, however, I do not agree with lumping all surgeons in Mexico as incompetent.

I checked his website and he has a lot of tools and information, that's very encouraging.

Hello. I'm fighting a lone battle here. Up above in my other post is the story of how I paid close to $20,000 USD for a band in Monterrey, Dr. Arturo Rodriguez. Thats the band, several trips to Monterrey etc. I was debanded after a year from what was a clear case of faulty installation.

Talk to the people who do fills here in the USA. They'll tell you that it's crazy to go for serious surgery in a place where you can't drink the Water. I have no legal recourse. My money is gone and the only thing I gained is more weight. Which I'm still gaining.

I'm reading these replys and I'm convinced that the majority of the replys are cayotes. The people who are paid a percentage for each customer they get. All the Mexican doctors have them. What possible reason would I have to lie to you. I'm passoniate about the bad decision I made. I'd give anything to back up the clock and get a good doctor here.

Talk to some fill centers. Fill center USA. Or any of them. They'll tell you.
