NSV - Something Nice Fits Me!!!

I am invited to a party on Friday night - in a posh hotel! And staying overnight! And for once, I have accepted - 80lbs ago, I would have refused to go, making up some excuse as I had absolutely no confidence....and in the unlikely event I would attend, I was forced to wear something "flowing" and black, probably with some sparkly beads on it, that a 70 year old woman would find ageing!!! So, I now can go into Principles (www.principles.co.uk), my favourite shop from fifteen years ago, when I was last slim, and wear something glam and funky! I enlose pic of top I bought in UK size 20!!! (USA size 18!) It's their largest size but hey, I'm in the store!!!

Whatcha think???

WOW!!!! Bright!

You are going to be the belle of the ball! You will put the skinny little blonds to shame! Of course, your idea "wear something "flowing" and black, probably with some sparkly beads on it" is right up my alley! Preferably, low cut of course, an the more sparklies, the better!

I get BBC America but havn't stopped long enough to look for T&S, we usually stop on Barney or The Wiggles, or something like that...kids just take over! I will look for it though. Somehow it seems pointless to try and improve my tastes in lots of things like clothes, hairstyles, make-up, and even TV. Not yet, anyway! But soon...

Penni- you will love that halter, very sexy!!! Take a pic and post it!

Hi Bright,

I really like that top!!!! You will look beautiful!!! Enjoy the party. I may take you up on the offer to get some clothes. I have been very frugal with replenishment!!!

That top is so pretty and sexy! Isn't it fun? LOL about the black flowing thing, probably with some sparkly beads. I've worn more than a few of those!

I'm bonkers about Trinny And Suz - they are wonderful, cheeky but wonderful! I did see them on Oprah one day, and wasn't sure how much they were doing in the US - they have great books out, which go thru the best things to wear to every occasion (like Summer Wedding, PTA Meeting etc) and for the best body shapes - I am trying to figure out from their book what skirt/dress to wear at the moment, as I never wear dresses! Here is their english website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/lifestyle/tv_and_radio/what_not_to_wear/index.shtml

What else do you guys get on BBC America? I must check it out....

Thanks for all the encouragement - this is so alien to me - looking forward to an event - usually if I couldn't get out of going, I would be shaking in my wardrobe for a week before! Worried about my damn hair tho....haven't had anything done to it in a year.....gulp!

Bright, you will "knock their socks off"! What color is it? And it will feel so good too! And you have gorgeous hair, so just relax and enjoy. Plus you get to stay the night. How much fun! I love T & S. They give such great advice, and their attitudes are a hoot.

Yes bright we want to see your georgous self in some photos!!!

ok I'll post pics - gulp! Please just remember that the top looks great in the photo above cos it's a size 8, and laid out flat on a table....I sorta fill (ahem) it out WAY more...

Bright...I am so happy for you...It is great that you have that confidence I can't "weight" to have back. You go girl!

P.S.Hey Kathy....What not to wear is one of my favorite "taking a break" shows. My 11 year old daughter and I watch it together sometimes. Where do they get some of these people?

I get the rolling eyes or impatient distraction when DH is in the room and I try to watch...it's something I have to catch after 11pm. I have seen 2 episodes that were shot in Charlote, NC (near me) so there were at least 2 poorly dressed souls here that got on...I think I might be eligible, but they'd need to hire Emme to consult for me, Stacy London size "nothing" isn't dressing me!!! Love that show.

Hey Bright! How was the shindig? Did you have fun? Take pics? Wear your sexy new outfit and knock 'em dead? Please give us the scoop!

Oh guys it was great! We went to a Country House/Hotel thingy - very romantic - the rooms were in converted stables, and we all were in gorgeous little cottage type rooms - named Apricot Cottage, or Daisy Cottage - so adorable! AND I looked pretty good! Most people there hadn't seen me in ages, and I had an "Extreme Makeover Reveal" moment when I walked and jaws were dropping! I almosed passed out with happiness! My best friend, who is an amazing support to me, had a bit too much wine, and yelled proudly to everyone - "and look how small her boobs are now!!!" eeeeek!

I didn't take any photos but loads of people were taking some - I'll get dressed up again and take one for you guys! The best thing was I wore some really high strappy shoes and could stay in them all night! That's my first time spending the night in heels! I was blissfully happy, sitting in an armchair, WITH MY LEGS CROSSED! Seriously, is there no greater pleasure, in weight loss, than being able to cross your legs!???!!! If ever I write a book about this journey, I'm going to call it "Look at me, Crossing my legs!"

Anyway, thanks for asking, and sorry for going on and on....pics soon, I promise xx
