Go on line to the CRA website. You can also telephone them and they will tell you how to do it. There is a special form and make sure you have all your receipts for expenses you are climing. My Dr. at my clinic, also sent a letter stating his assessment of me warranted the surgical intervention.

You can claim all medical expenses including plastic surgery costs on your income tax return. You can claim mileage, meals, hotel rooms, whatever other costs you have incurred. They have tons of information on the CRA website or in the Guide about medical expenses. There are certain criteria you have to meet for the mileage and meals but as long as you are the distance away they set as the limit then you can go ahead. Just make sure you have receipts for everything they require receipts for and you shouldn't have a problem if you are audited.

Hi Sherrylynn,

You should claim your surgery cost under medical expenses. All you need is your receipt from the clinic since even plastic surgery is deductible as a medical expense.

Good luck.
