Lap Band Overfilled Or Just Swollen?
I am usually O.K. for a day or two and then seem to swell up. Everyone is different. You may be overfilled. I believe not being able to keep liquids down is a red flag though.

How to deal with not so positive people...
I chose not to tell anyone for this very reason. The only people who know are my husband and children.. I also don't have to deal with people watching everything that goes into my mouth and how much I loose......whAT i experience is people applauding my loss. I still have a long way to goal but am down almost 100 pounds and am 3 years out. Still on the journey....I'\m a slow looser. The thing is it's my journey at my own rate and I am glad I didn't tell anyone and have no one to answer to. Goood luck.

Surgery December 8th Soooo Nervous Please help!
Congrats! You are young and even if you loose more weight you may not have as much extra skin as you did the first time. I know you don't want to hear it but you can always have a revision later just to remove any additional skin. Just eat healthy and exercise as you continue to loose after surgery and hopefully you won't have any issues. I think you will feel fantastic and your whole life will be different. Even if you don't have perfect results I think you will love your new body and have such confidence. Enjoy and good luck! I wish I had done it at your age.

Looking for a Greater Toronto Area Plastic Surgeon
Hi all, I have finally hit onederland and see the end in site. I think it is time to find a plastic surgeon in the Greater Toronto Area. I am looking for suggestions and information about your experiences and results. I would also appreciate how you went about finding a surgeon who was good and experienced with those who have lost a lot of weight. Tips on questions to ask, what to look for, etc. would also be appreciated. Sherri

Finally! Onederland!!!!
Hi all, I am deffiately a slow looser. It has taken me one and a half years but I have finally hit onederland. I can't believe the end is in site. Even though I still have between fourty and sixty pounds to loose I feel really successful. I haven't been at this weight in almost twenty-five years. Wow. The band is the best thing I ever did. Have ALL the Dec 2007 bandsters disappeared????
Hi fellow Dec 07 bandsters, I have not been lurking around much but decided to drop in and check in. I am at the 95lb. mark now and approaching onederland for the first time in I don't remember how long. I certainly have not been there in 20+ years. It is good to see everyone progressing along and I am glad to know I am not the only slow looser. Not really glad others have the slow battle to fight, just that I am not abnormal. I too loose and then hit a plateau. I seem to be at one now and wonder if I will ever loose again. Happy loosing

Slimband formerly TLBC Clinic Toronto On
Susieq321 I just wanted to pass on my condolences on the passing of your father. Just hang in there. it does get easier although grieving takes time and has to run its course. Be stong. you have been a real role model for me. I have been following your posts on the forums and you were pivitol in my origial decision to get the band (best decision of my life). I am sure he was really proud of you and it sounds like he was the type of man who was a great role model for us all. I am sure you have a lot of his characteristics in you.

What to tell work/coworkers
Personally I did not feel it was anyone's business. I am glad I did not and do not have to deal with the judgements, comments, etc. I only told my husband and 2 children since they live with me. I did my surgery when I had 6 days off work. If I did need extra time I would have called in sick. (this was a part time teaching position) for my main job I am self employed and work at home. I just took it very easy and did not do too much work for about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. I found that my part time job tired me. I did not feel back to normal for at least a month. For people I had to tell I was having surgery I just said I was having a hiatus hernia fixed and really didn't want people to know so please keep it quiet. It worked really well and explains the surgery scars, etc. I do not regret my decision not to tell and it really isn't anyones business. You must do what you are comfortable with.

11 Months! Wahoo! Give us #'s
Hi all my fellow Merry Bandsters. I don't oftern post but I do drop by to keep up on what is happening to my fellow bandmates. I am down almost 60 pounds now and this is the most I have ever lost (previously my largest weight loss was 25 pounds). My progress seems to be pretty stalled and I have been struggling with the 1/4 lbs since last May. I will be going in a couple of weeks for a fill to help kick start my weight loss since I think I have either been challenging my band or am too loose. Due to work deadlines, children and a sick dad in the hospital I don't think I can make it to the clinic until next week. I see all your success and am amazed. I often get motivated by the support and success I read on these forums. Thank you! I hope we keep this tread going even if it is only a few. I hope for our year anniversary I can post that I have broken the next decade.

December Surgery Dates
Hi Lachica, I too seem to have stalled on the weight loss front. I think it has been about 3 months since I have lost weight. I have problems eating during the day and usually have my main meal in the p.m. (not good) The later the better. I also find a glass of wine opens me up and allows me to get the food down. sometimes I am fine but I often throw up if I eat solids before 2 or 3 pm. Let me know what the dotor said.

Passover is comming! Help!!
Anyone else out there who celebrates Passover? I am pretty nurvous since I usually begin my day with a Protein shake (not Kosher for passover) and cannot usually manage solids first thing in the a.m. I went for nutritional counselling at my clinic but they really don't get it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have an additional challenge since I am lactose intollerant and don't really do much dairy during passover anyways. I mostly stick to meat and parve.

Sushi Post-band
I love Japanese food and eat it aproximately every 1 or 2 weeks. I find if I begin my meal with a miso soup or tea I am warmed up and find eating sushi much easier. I avoid the maki rolls since the rice gives me a hard time. The nuri (seweed is impossible). If I do have a piece I just open it and eat the middle. I mostly stick to shashimi (yummi and no problem to eat). Sushi I pick the fish off of and leave the rice. sometimes I do eat some rice but find it does not go down so well. I usually feel better if I do not eat it. I LOVE shashimi.

Kareyquilts TT, BL, Lipo & BA
I take thyroid med's which cannot be crushed. Even though the pill is tiny it seems to irritate and cause swelling when i take it whole. I have found that by breaking it in half or quarters, I can more easily take it without compromising the effectiveness of the pill. I must take this pill 1st thing in the am on an empty stomach.

moving your port site
Hi Doddie, I can't believe they sent you home! I have read bad things about Nancy on this site before(dismissing concern's, not giving fluro fills, etc.). My port is flipped on it's side too. My first fill was with Nancy and it took her 3 tries to get my port but my next fill with her she got it the first time. I had a fill with Daryl (the surgical nurse) since the other fill nurse was off sick. She was great and got it the first time. On Wednesday I had a fill for the first time with the other fill nurse(can't remember her name) and she was awful. Athough I told her I had a flipped port and which direction to approach to hit the front she just kept stabbing me and digging and digging. She kept approaching from the back over and over even though I kept telling her the front of the port was on the other side. I am incredibly bruised and sore. The bruising is as bad as my original surgery. I am now concerned since i will never let her come near me with a needle again. I guess nancy is my only option. If you flew all the way from Vancouver to fix your port and they turned you away, I guess I have no hope of having mine fixed. I wonder if they are getting too big for their own good and can't accomodate proper aftercare for all their bandsters? Any thoughts? Sherri Sorry for the long windednesss.

NSV's for the Merry Losers
i have had problem's fitting into the seats in movie theatres, hairdresser chair's, etc. Guess what. I fit. I'm so excited. My weight loss has stalled the last few weeks, but I think the inches are still flying off. I keep noticing my clothes getting looser and looser. it feels really good. My next NSV goal is to not only fit into the hairdresser's chair, but to also be able to close those jacket cover up's they give you. It doesn't protect your clothes if it won't close.

Overwhelmed by amount to lose
jjsmiles, great suggestions for treats. I like the under 100 calories rule. My personal favorie is the skinny cow chocolate fudge bar. it is large and filling and I believe it runs 80 calories for 1 bar. i feel like I have indulged in a sinful treat. I will look for the safeway healthy Snacks next time I am in the states.

Overwhelmed by amount to lose
Hi Staindgal, Although the band is an aid you still have to work with it. When you do loose control you cannot do the damage you used to. I find I cannot eat things like cake and donuts since I get stuck. I can still eat ice cream and potatoe chips but even if I get into these things I cannot eat as much as before. I am litterally eating about 1/8 of the amount I previously did. You just hit a point of being full and stop. You learn quickly not to overeat since you will just throw up if you do and it is not fun. the way i looked at it is why do I need to have willpower and starve. I got psycologically healthy and it allowed me to see the band was the best present I could give myself. I now have a took that is making it easy for me to eat healthy and not overindulge. It is a new midset for me. I even got a personal trainer to come to my house 3 times per week. As to those who find the large sums of weight we have to loose overwhelming, just think of it in small increments. Since you are getting great health benefits each time you loose 10% of your weight I loose this 10% difference (a weight watcher term) as my mini goals. it makes it more manageable but at my weight each goal seems far away.

How much weight have you lost?????
Hi all, I am 46 and was banded on Dec 6, 2007. From the first time I walded through the door of the clinic for my first consult to now I am down 45 pounds. This is the most I have ever lost. The most amazing thing is it is forever. I will never gain it back again. I am not counting calories since i am very restricted and usually cannot eat much so cannot do too much caloric damage. However, i do work out 3 times a week with a trainer. It makes a huge difference. I hope it keeps dropping since I still have so much to go.
