  • Hi, My surgery is the 22nd. My dr. Has me on a liver reducing diet consisting of protein drinks broth, sugar free Popsicles and jello. Any chance you're on the same one? I have extremely chapped lips

I didn't have chapped lips from the pre-op diet but I did have dry mouth from hell right after surgery. That normally happens from all the anesthesia. Prepare for it.

GL to the both of you going forward.

Some of the protein drinks did leave sort of a film on my lips that you may be thinking is chapped lips. If they are not tender it’s probably just the film. I also got it on my tongue with some of the brands and it was pretty gross looking but came off when I brushed of course. If you are prone to chapped lips be sure to have something with you in the hospital though. Many people complain about that there. Really not sure if it has to do with the surgery in some way or just because it’s so darn cold but it does tend to be an issue. Good luck on both of your surgeries.

I am in the 1st stages of my journey. I meet with the team for my 1st consultations on Jan 2nd. I am @ 250 lbs. I have cronic back pain. I just had back surgery in Oct. I am doing the surgery because the weight of my stomach is pulling my spine forward. If i don't do this i might have to have another fusion in my back later on. Plus i am so excited to get this done. I have hit a plato and i cant lose any more weight i bounce around 250 lbs up or done by 10 lbs no matter what i do. I was @ 285 lbs I lost 60 lbs and it all stopped. So i have been hovering around the same weight for years.I am so excited to get this done.
