I Can't Win for Losing! Now I'm Cramping!

My weight loss is stalled and I'm constipated - "Drink more water, consume less sodium"

So I start watching my sodium intake and consuming 80+ oz of water a day and using Benefiber 2x a day

Since Wednesday night, I'm cramping in my feet and calves in my sleep - "You're drinking too much water and that's washing out all your electrolytes"

Where do I find electrolytes? - "In your food (like sodium), but you can only consume small portions because of the surgery"

What the hell am I supposed to do???

  • Drink Power-Ade Zero . It's full of electrolytes and no calories . I drink at least one every day. As for constipation - they always say drink more water.... but you and I are proof that doesn't alw

Try something like Powerade/Gatorade/Vitamin Water (sugar free versions) or a water additive like zip fizz to help with electrolytes. A low sodium bone broth might be a good choice, too, if you prefer

  • Well, Wednesday night and Thursday night I drank Gatorade Zero and I was still waking up with cramps. One of my sisters is a RN with 40+ years experience and she said to try Propel? I guess I can try

UPDATE: I started taking Benefiber 2x a day, and it seems to have helped the constipation issue. I've also started drinking one 16oz Propel/day and the midnight leg cramps stopped. :)

Yay for no more leg cramps!! (and for less constipation!!) I have like 5 different sugar free electrolyte powders around because I'm crazy prone to having low potassium and waking up screaming in pain isn't my favorite way to wake up. ? I wondered if bariatric patients could take Miralax, I find it much kinder than some other meds/methods. If you ever have to have a colonoscopy definitely ask them for the Miralax prep! It just tastes like whatever you mix it into...
