benefiber or metamucil?

My sleeve surgery was 3/13/23 and I've been struggling with constipation ever since. I have been taking colace twice a day (approved by my doctor) and benefiber powder (recommended here) At a prior appointment, they said the benefiber would be ok. My PA approved the colace but mentioned yesterday that the Benefiber could expand and stretch my sleeve. So she told me to take Metamucil Fiber Thins instead. While I love the addition of a cracker to my day I am a little worried it may not work. Plus I'm going away for a week and hesitate to try something new beforehand but I'm scared about stretching my sleeve with the benefiber! Thoughts??

I use JustBetter fiber and LOVE it! I get it on Amazon and have used it since a few months after surgery.

I take 2-3 colace a day and add in a serving of benefiber usually every other day. Those are recommended thru my surgeons office.

I use something called Lactulose in the UK.

The constipation can be the worst.

Metamucil & Benefibre both swell but I was told by my surgeon Benefibre was the better choice so that was what I took. ??‍♀️ It may just come down to which works better for you. I mixed mine up in a good cup of yoghurt drink mid afternoon so it didn’t interfere with my ability to eat.

Colace 2xs a day in the morning and afternoon seem to work well for me since surgery. Getting all my water in and eating veggies and occasional fruit seem to keep me moving like clockwork every morning.

I still drink a 30g protein shake daily which frees me up to eat a bit more low calorie veggies and less meat that can lead to constipation.
