Water, and gulping

When it is hot as a witches.......*&^ outside and I have a bottle of water I know full well that I tend to swig/gulp it and can finish a small bottle in a matter of seconds.

Now of course that behavior is not desireable with the LB but if it were to happen out of habit, what would it feel like?

Would I have water spraying out my nose(like a salad post I read earlier)?

Also, bubblies i see are not so good does that mean no Dit Coke ever again? I like the fizz.

hi Susan,

i am pretty well restricted and do a 'bandsters gulp' ... few gulps, wait a minute or so, then another few... i cannot finish a bottle of water in seconds, it would more than likely revisit very quickly... (through the mouth - im lucky and havent had anything come back out my nose ... OUCH!)

I've only goofed up with water once, and I ended up projectile vomiting it right back out, poor dh was in the line of fire. Granted I was less than a month post op at the time, but I'll never do it again.

Soosan, That was a HUGE issue for me; I was panicked over not being able to 'chug'. And not being able to drink with meals. I started pre-surgery to get into the habit of these things. A habit takes two weeks to 'pick up'. Believe it or not, its now 2nd nature for me. I don't ever CHUG...but trust me when I say that I can definately take a satisfying sip - regardles of how hot it is.

And for not eating with meals - I don't recommend for two reasons. One - you don't want to flush out your stoma. Two - it can get VERY uncomfortable if you have food in your stoma - and load water ontop, and around that. It gets down right painful - and can cause a PB.

Good luck!

its instant with me and I haven't gotten my fill in about 2 months. it feels like something is stuck in your throat. it will come back up.

Im so careful when it comes to drinking....but i messed up the other day.....i just chugged the cup of water really fast...and i felt my pouch get really full for like a 2 mins then i could feel it slowing filling in to my tummy...but no pain just not very comfy...kinda like u feel after a thanksgiving dinner lol really really full!!
