Recovery is close to the same as after WLS. Limited liquid/soft diet etc. Usually not as long or "strict". Same little incisions but sometimes 1 up a little higher. I actually had a MAJOR HH

I just read that some surgeons can do it endoscopically now. I always research it because I am always worried some day I will have a hiatal hernia because so many people I know have had that problem.

I had my gallbladder out and it was a very easy surgery to recover from. I took just 3 days off work and felt great immediately after surgery because my gallbladder wasn’t bothering me anymore. W

Before I had my DS last Thanksgiving, I had an endoscopy that found a 2cm sliding hiatal hernia. The surgeon said that he would fix the hernia when he did the DS but sadly I woke up from surgery and was told it wasn't fixed.
I am still having severe symptoms from GERD, mainly constant tightness and pain in my throat that causes me trouble with talking. I am having an upper GI xray this Saturday and then will schedule a follow up surgery to finally fix the silly hernia.
Has anyone had a hernia fixed, and not had it combined with another surgery? I am wondering what recovery looks like.
