Day 1 Post Op

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to post my experience to help anyone who is getting the surgery, here is my experience:

I had surgery yesterday around 11:30 am. When I woke up, I was in great pain. Mind you I have had multiple surgeries and major surgeries that were worse, but the middle of my chest was hurting bad because of the gas. It was dead in the middle of my chest. I thought I was having a heart attack for 14 hours, lol. Around 3:00 am this morning, the pain just disappeared like magic.

Today, I have been walking, released around noon, come home took a Vitamin and I am on no pain meds. Really don't need them, the stomach incisions feel like the gallbladder surgery I had in the past, no real problem.

My major issue at the moment is drinking Water. Every sip gives me indigestion, I am working through it, giving myself 10-15 minutes per sip. I am working on a 16 oz bottle of water, it seems I can't tolerate cold water, room temp I can.

That's it. I thought I would share my experience, and if those who are on deck have any questions about the first 24-36 hours after surgeries ask any questions, and those who have had the surgery (gastric sleeve) have any advice, I sure would take it :)

Sounds like you're doing great. Keep it up. Get your Water and Protein the best you can.

Congratulations on your surgery. Drinking Water will get easier & easier. It sounds like you are healing well from the incisions & surgery. I was very tired that first week, and had difficulty reaching my Fluid & Protein goals at first. So, just try your best to get in what you can, if it seems like too much.

Thank you for sharing your story, I am sure it will be helpful to others waiting for surgery. 😊

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
