New and trying to learn

Hello! I was banded on 11/15/07 in Houston, TX by Dr Richard Collier. Everything as gone good so far. I have only lost about 15 lbs. but people are already saying they are noticing and encouraging me about my weight loss. I have 100 lbs to go! But I'm on my way! I am excited about this and believe I have done the right thing with getting the lap band. I have had some pain with the healing process but not too much. I get my 1st fill on December 17th. I have been reading what other have said about getting fills. I hope I don't have problems with the fills. I don't believe my Dr is very aggresive about the fills. He wants his people to lose slowley. I will be reading and asking questions as I go. I know I NEED HELP!

Thanks in Texas

I'll give you the three things that have worked single handedly for my success...however, everyone is different... this works for ME.

1. Go out to someplace like SparkPeople or FitDay and join and log ALL your food, and I mean ALL the food you put in your mouth....every day. It quickly becomes a habit and makes you VERY aware of what you consume.

2. Many people do NOT do this, but I weigh EVERY day, at the same time, in the buff, on the same scales, and I LOG it on my FitDay account, every day. I can look at my food consumption and cross-reference to my weight and see exactly why I am LOSING or NOT losing and WHY.

3. Set many many many MINI GOALS. Like, I am 163 now and I would like to be 160 by Christmas....well, that's what, three weeks away? That's what I mean by a mini-goal. Something that is ATTAINABLE in a short period of time. Don't project a goal from now to May of next year....or say something like "I want to lose 25 pounds in the next two months..." but do a three week goal, or a one month goal, or whatever. If you are a weenie about these things, make them easily attainable and when you hit your goal before your due date you will feel great about yourself!

Kacee,

I was banded on 10/30/07 and will have my first fill on 12/13/07. I appreciate the information on what has worked for you. I am going to try it. Right now I have no restriction that I can tell, and have not lost any weight yet. My doctor warned me that I probably wouldn't before my first fill after coming off just liquids, but it is still a little disappointing!! :tired

Have a great week!
