Hello all, I'm Carole, and I live in Northern Kentucky. I was just banded on Nov. 28th, by Dr. Sonnanstein. The surgery is over, and now the recovery and getting on with the loosing of weight. This has been a lifelong battle for me. I am a stay at home mom with 4 kids, so I would love to talk to anyone, compare notes, experiences, or answer anyone's questions that is getting ready. I am considered a "light-weight" since I have about 70 to 85 lbs. to loose.

Thank you Susan for your reply. I was hoping someone would say hello. I am excited. It was such a big decision to get the lap band, and my mother is watching, with thoughts of getting her own. She is worried about her age, but I've given her this website to do some reading for herself.

How have you done since being banded? I am assuming no regrets. Any problems, or better yet, any suggestions to get through this liquid stage I am still on? I can't wait to eat something, but my dr has me go to the next stage which is pureed, then slightly chunky, then finally slowly real stuff. Got to run now -- kids to swimming, basketball, and library.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Carole

Hi, Carole and welcome to LBT!

I stayed home with my four, too. (G,B,B,G - how about you?) They're all grown now, but I watch my GrandDoll and GrandBuddy while their mommy works.

I had to lose about twice what you're wanting to lose. I'm down 49 lbs. since my highest -- around Easter. Can't wait to break into the 240s -- visited there one Saturday in 2002, before that it was like 1990!!!!

Hi Carole!

I'm being banded on 12/17, and I'm also a SAHM of 3. Mine are 9, 6, and 2. I have about 80-90 lbs to lose, and have been battling weight issues since college. I'd love to follow your progress and keep in touch with you.

:( Julie

Hi carole. I too have 4 kids, all boys. Their ages are 13, 14, 16, and 23. Only the three still live at home. I use to be a stay at home mom, but once they all started school I started substitue teaching and am now a parapro (teacher's aid) in special ed with the schools. This lets me be home when they're home.

Congrats on the lapband. I hope thins go well.

I am so jealous of all you banded people. My appt for my consult isnt until Febuary...I am very anxious to start my

new life!!!!

Hi Kimberly....we've all been where you are. Anxious to get it started, worried it might NEVER happen.

Hang in there -- it will.

Take the time to educate yourself and work in the MIND. The band will fix your 'stomach', but doesn't do much for your BRAIN! We're all still HERE because we're still working on THAT organ!

Thank you to all of you!!! It's like a big party here w/o the food (yeah)!! My kids are b-17, b-14, g-11, b-8. Right now my oldest is in Germany for the year as an exchange student (I am going to visit him in March). Instead of him being here, we have an exchange student also, g-16, from Roen, France.

I am so glad that everyone is here to lend moral support to those that have already been banded, and to those that are waiting to get banded. I was truly a lucky one, I started with a consult in July, did sleep study in August/Sept, had 4 classes in Oct, approved early November, surgery Wed. after T-giving. It has gone really fast, now that I look back, but at the time it sure didn't feel that way. It's nice to have some place to come to with questions, concerns, and challenges. I am looking for new liquid things to "eat". I am supposed to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks, and it's only been 5 days. I never thought I would be so excited to eat applesauce in just over a week -- party time!!!!!

As for keeping in touch, I would love to keep in touch with anyone since all of the kids are back in school. (I homeschooled them for 3 years). I am working on completing my substitute teaching application, so I can work some time, but be home when they are home.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
