My surgeon insists we use a Vitamin Patch for first 30 days following surgery, but no longer than 30 days. I’m curious as to why no longer than 30 days?..will ask him during pre-op in a few weeks, but wondering if anyone has experience with them? Thanks!

I am still pre-op (scheduled for RNY on the 19th) but my surgeon recommends the patch but is ok with the pills as well. The surgeon I have is with a university hospital/practice and they are very progressive in the way they do things. The patches are definitely newer and there isn’t a whole lot of research on their effectiveness but my office seems to feel they are effective based on their results. Maybe your surgeon feels they are not efficient enough for long term? I’m not sure. I plan on using them until I am able to get pills down without struggling with it.

I use them currently for b12 since I'm still having a little trouble swallowing the capsules. I think it's better to have something going in, but since they're so new, maybe they're being cautious?
