Banded in 2 weeks, got questions

just want to know what kind of liquids did you guys do following the diet? i have heard of protein drinks and other protien shakes, which are the best? also, is it true that i won't lose any weight until i get a fill?

or is everyone different in that aspect? i am very happy about the surgery and i can't wait. feeling nervous of course but i know that this is something that will benefit my entire family.

thanks for your responses. will keep everyone updated on my progress. :ranger::whoo:

I did clear liquid the first week and then moved to full liquid for 2 weeks, then mushies for 3 weeks. I use Pro Performance whey Protein powder (chocolate caramel) and mix it with skim milk. It's really good to me. I lost around 10-12 lbs the first week after surgery and then a few pounds here and there until my fill. It varies with each person, so don't get discouraged if you do not lose or even gain to start with. Good luck

I like the Isopure Dutch Chocolate with skim milk, but even with water it isn't bad. If you like coffee drinks, AchievOne makes a great Cappuccino bottled shake that I love!!! A little bit expensive, but I think its worth it. Dymatize Elite Protein Chocolate Mint is also good, it kinda tastes like those thin mint girl scout cookies!

Hi there!

I drank Champion Nutrition Whey Protein shakes (26g protein per 10 oz. liquid) and various protein-fortified mixes made for bariatric patients (Soups, fruit drink mixes, hot cocoa, etc.).

I lost about 14 pounds by my first post-op appointment if I remember correctly. The doctor had told me that the time right after surgery was for healing, not for weight loss so I didn't have high expectations.

I have lost weight from the time I was banded through my third fill (sometimes just a little, sometimes more). It took three fills before I had good restriction. Your amount of weight loss will depend on what you're eating and how much exercise you are getting (calories in vs. calories out).

Good luck!!!

Thanks again for the suggestions. i have another question for all of the folks on here that have been banded. how much weight did you guys lose before your fill if any? just curious. i get my band Nov 30th, next Friday but i don't get my first fill until 6 weeks out. just want to know how much weight can be lost before a fill and if there is any restriction before the fill.

thanks.
