  1. okay, to make a long story short, the surgeon i had my surgery with doesn't like to give fills. he thinks you are supposed to lose weight , alot of weight without them. he gave me my first fill yesterday, i am 2 months post op, and he was disgusted that he had to do it. he basically told me that i was a failure. he operates in a small town and his office runs on small minds. anyway, he wouldn't even tell me how much he put in. i asked him to and he still refused to tell me. so, i live in Montgomery, AL. i need a fill doctor that won't make you feel like crap for asking for a fill. help! i know of one in Prattville but i am waiting to see if he will do them. he is out of office for two weeks. anyone know any surgeons that will do fills close to Montgomery. like, within the 60 mile radius? your help is much appreciated. btw, i have lost 20 pounds already and it has been 7 weeks since my surgery AND I HAD NO RESTRICTION. yeah, i am really doing bad ......WHAT A MORON!!!!!!

    I need help Alabama Bandsters....

you are so welcome honey. I know you will do fine and just keep on with Dr. McyIntyre on the weight loss documentation. he is a busy man but so easy to talk to. he may offer you some pilss and other stuff he has to lose weight but just let him know that you have your mind set on the lapband and that you were referred to him by me, Stacey. one of his x patients that had in done last November. he will remember me. tell him you want the same exact diet documented as mine. you will really like him. very sweet man. just very busy. oh, update on my surgeon. well it has been a few months since that first fill and let me tell you. after i posted on here. i called his boss and left a message. (the owner of the surgical center). i told in detail of our visit and etc. well, the next night, my surgeon called me from HIS CELL PHONE! he acted surprised that i called and complained to him. we talked for an hour. i told him straight up how he made me feel, i told him the rules of lap band that i learned, i told him that i was doing GREAT for someone with no fill and he had no right to make me feel the way he did. he said, well sometimes Stacey, i use tough love with my patients, i said, what, tough love? first off, Dr. blank, (i won't say his name) you don't know me well enough to love me. we are not freinds nor family. and if you think that harsh words telling me i am not doing good and that i will fail will help me to lose more weight, well you are as wrong as all the people who have been in the past cause i have heard harsh words before about my weight , been called names and teased for years but guess what? IT DIDN'T HELP ME TO LOSE WEIGHT. i told him he needed to invest in a differnet method and that i was surprised that others patients had not complained before. anyway, we talked things out and now he is as nice and helpful as ever. to bad i won't see him again cause i found a doctor in Prattville to take over fills. oh and soon2blittle. Dr. Mora in Prattville. i have heard great things about him and he will do your lapband surgery. well, sorry so long. just wanted to give an update.

    I need help Alabama Bandsters....

Hi soontobelittle. you asked me about a doctor who could help you with your six month diet. i have one who is in montgomery who helped me and he was wonderful. his name is Ashley McIntrye. his office is located in Montgomery and his office number is 334-279-8180. he did my six month diet and did not charge me anything but the cost of my co-pay. he has done it for others as well. he perfers the lap band over the gastric bypass. he knows how to document your diet so that the insurance company will accept it. mine was approved in two days and all you have to do is see him once a month to get weighed. ask him to document diet pills, just don't take them of if he gives you a prescription, ask him to document it but don't get them filled. that is what i did. hope this helps. good luck and i know things will work out for you.
  4. hey guys, i just found this website. it is called johnstreasurecove.com. you go and registar and they will send you a free 10.00 gift card to use at the website. you won't believe the nice stuff they have and for decent prices. i was shopping for my mom on the internet and came across this website two weeks ago. i registered and they sent me a free catalog and a free 10.00 gift card to use on the site towards anything i want. they have all kinds of stuff to. just wanted to share. nothing is better than free and when i find free things, i share the wealth!!!! :wink2:
  5. and the biggest loser power sculpt? i bought both at wal-mart . 9.99 for each. i did the ower sculpt once and the cardio max two times. i was doing Denise Austin. i have been walking and doing cardio only 2-3 times a week so i thought it was time to step it up . man, they both kicked my butt!! you have to go to amazon.com and read the reviews on these and see if they are right for you. but, so far, i know they are good workouts because i can't get through the entire dvd and i am sweating, panting and feeling the BURN BABY!! WUHUEEEE. If anyone has tried these and have been doing them for a while, please post your thoughts and results. I really feel like if i stay with these dvd's, i will definetly see the results. but, i would still like to hear some input on others who have done them though. thanks....:tongue_smilie:
  6. yeah, i am going to my surgeon tomorrow. it is not bloated in the morning as much as at night. and yes, i am keeping a food log on what makes it bloat. last night i had a chicken enchalidia. that made me bloat. i just want to see if anyone else is having issues with water weight or stomach bloat. need some suggestions. i know, drink lots of water, log your food, exercise. etc. i just want to know if this is happening to anyone else. and ladies, it seems like i carry water weight one week before and one week after my monthly. never had that issue before either.
  7. hey guys, I need some help and I know i have come to the right place. I love this site. okay, banded 5 months ago. have noticed the last two months, two weeks out of the month, my stomach is so bloated. i mean, bigger than ever. almost as big as when i was 8 months pregnat with my son. I am losing weight so not sure why this is happening. do you guys have any suggestions? has this happened to you? my stomach is not hard really, but some nights, it does hurt when it is extended out. i feel like i am on the verge of exploding. i don't drink soda's. how can i get this bloatedness to go away and stay away. thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
  8. okay. I have been banded for almost 5 months. love my band. but, i had a very scarey thing happen today at work. i have had food stuck, it went down. i have had a fill a week ago. small fill. doctor is consertive. love him. okay, i was eating some tuna salad, had some boiled egg in it. small pieces and pickles, small pieces. i took two small bites and the hell began. okay, i was dropping two pounds a week , but since my 3rd fill, i have gained 2 pounds. i am addressing that with more exercise. here is my important question. the more fills i have, the tighter i am right? the less food it takes to fill me up right? the less i want to eat, right? this is what i have heard and read but i need to hear the real deal from the "pros". so, the more fills i get, am i going to pb more? will i have to eat puree and liquids forever??? and what should i do after this pb? should i stay on liquids for a couple of days? one day? i just need some advice. and i thank anyone and everyone who answers me. please help....

Has anyone tried biggest loser cardiomax and..

Hi Luu, yes, you do need free weights. i have a set of 5 pound dumb bells. but i am going to wal-mart tomorrow to see if i can find a set of 3 pounders. the 5 pound is to much for me as i am a beginner in strength training and such. but i will tell you, the dvd's are great and you will see results. you just alternate them. do cardio one day and sculpting the next. don't try to over do it. i have been doing the cardio now for 3 weeks and i just got through the first twenty mins. take your time and just keep moving, even if you aren't or can't do the stuff they are doing in the dvd. you will love the way it tones your body and the fat it burns off of you. good luck and let me know how it goes. hope this helped.

Has anyone tried biggest loser cardiomax and..

thanks for replying Sherry. update on me and the new exercise. Well, i have tried both of the dvd's. the sculpting (only once so far) and the cardio max. I have been doing the cardio for a week now. i have lost 1.5 inches off my chest and before i started the dvd's, i was stuck at a certain weight for 2 and a half weeks. i lost 3 pounds this week!!! i know it is because i shocked my body by changing my exercise. i stepped it up a notch and let me tell you, it really works to break Plateaus. i am starting to feel really motivated. so Sherry, there is no doublt you will love these dvd's. i am crazy about the work out. man, best workout i have done so far. just keep it up and you will see results in no time.
  12. thank you Kat, you know, I don't know why but I had it in my head that i needed the fill. i have a 14cc band, i have less than 3 cc's in it. i was banded 11-30-2007 and i have lost 32 pounds. I don't know why , but I had it molded in my brain that the more fills, the more weight i will lose. and I think that i was losing 1.5 pounds a week. sometimes just 1. but I agree with you, it is better to do that than to have the pbing and the sliming. I go and see him again in two weeks. i am going to talk to him and see what he thinks. i very well may need an unfill. I am going to do liquids tonight. I can enjoy the benefits of the band and lose the weight with eating right and exercising. and I have been doing that. but before thsi fill, i noticed that it was taking me longer to get full and i could eat more than 2 cups at a time and the fullness didn't last for long. and i am obeying the rules, not drinking 30mins before or after, etc. I guess i just thought that with a 14c band, a little more would not hurt and that i did need the fill. this was my first time sliming /pbing , i know it may not be my last but one thing is for sure, i learned a lesson. chew, chew, wait...chew some more and no more TUNA!!!! Kat, i have another question for you. do you think you are at your sweet spot and how can you tell? also, how much food do you eat at a sitting? thanks again for your help. i am feeling better now.
  13. i bought this protein powder at GNC a week and a half ago. it is multi fractionated whey isolate complex. i drink only one scoop a day of it. i don't do the recommened two scoops. anyway, it taste great but is pricey. i don't plan on buying it again but i was wondering if anyone has used it and does it cause weight gain? i have gained 3 pounds in a week and it is the only thing i have done differently. just wondering if it could be the powder. i mix it with skim milk. i make and drink 2 cups of it mixed with the milk and 1 cup ice. and i just had my 3rd fill and still healing from that and i have still managed to put on weight even though i have been eating less. but getting in 1300 calories a day. not sure what i am doing wrong. help..... getting down and out about it....i was banded 11-30-2007 and have lost 33 pounds. is this slow for the band? guess i just need some support and suggestions from those who know how it feels...

    Yuck!!!

do some research on IBS. i have it and it sounds like you have some of the symptoms. of course, there can be many other things but more than likely, your doctor may treat you for IBS to see if things calm down. But i swear, you described me six months ago. but don't worry, it can be treated and there are things that you can do to help it. and sometimes, it just goes away on it's own. do some web surfing and read as much on it as you can but i recommened finding some medical journal articals on it. more facts in those. okay, i just read that you are new to the lapband system. if you are infact still on liquids, that may be the reason. but , you can still ask your doctor about IBS. i don't want to give you wrong information.
  15. i have to ask. it may be nothing but I want to know if anyone has done this before. i was banded 4 months ago. i had my 3rd fill last week. i don't have that much saline in my band under 3ccs. my surgeon is consertive but i like it that way. well, before my 3rd fill, i never had this happen. i can start to eat something and start to feel a little quesy on my stomach. not real nausaus or like i am going to throw up instantly but just a little nausaus. after i am done eating, i notice that the feeling is a little stronger but after five mins.it goes away completely. this is so strange. has this happened to anyone else before?

    Just Curious..how.....

How much weight are you loosing per week? how about per month? at first, my doctor told me he wanted me to lose more than 2 pounds a week. of course, i had to set him straight cause he was very consertivie with the fills and i knew better. i know that one can expect 1 to 2 pounds of weight loss per week with the band and after he finally gave me my 2nd fill, i started loosing 2 pounds a week. so i was just curious about others. is the band working for you and what are you doing to help the band work? i do cardio 3 times a week (20 mins at a time) and i walk 4 days a week (1 hour brisk walking0. i have also changed my eating habits.

    AP Large ??

Fireman, me and him have discussed it and after i was done, "telling him right" as you call it, he told me how much he put in my band after my first fill. we discussed it again at my second fill and i agreed with him that i didn't want to know. he explained that he didn't want me fixed on how much was in my band and to become obsessed with it. anywho, that is not what this thread is about but if i didn't trust him and didn't agree with his way of doing things, i would and could easily find another surgeon to take over my after care. he has my respect and he is looking out of my best interest. you don't go off on people who are cheering you on and offering you support. you talk to them like a normal person, straight forward and if you don't agree with them, you are still straight forward with them and you move on. just like i am....moving on from this discussion........hope I told you "right"

    AP Large ??

wow. i have the 14 cc AP band and I had my third fill today. my surgeon won't tell me exactly how much he puts in but he did tell me today that is it under 3 cc's. i had my surgery 11-30-2007 and i have lost 33 pounds. i felt terrific restriction with my 2nd fill. it was awesome. i just went back today for another fill , six weeks later and he said he would do a little adjustment. i love my band and I am so pleased that i had the surgery.

    apology re: $700 fill

welcome aboard and we understand the frustration. We hope that we can help you and help eachother through this journey. it is a roller coaster ride but trust me, it gets better. you are going through what we all did. you are the very beginning of this new life and we all know how that feels. I am pretty new also. had my surgery 11-30-2007. i have lost 33 pounds. it has been hard breaking old habits and i to had some disappointments with my after care but it all worked out and i am so glad now that i had this surgery. so again, welcome back and ask away. we all need advice and to vent at times.
  21. i have a question and i need some advice and some help. I am 4 weeks post op. I have lost 11 pounds . I saw my surgeon today. he says i am doing good. i told him that i can eat a cup to a cup and half of food. i am more hungry and can eat more in the afternoon. think i even ate 2 cups at a time a couple of days ago. anyway, i asked about a fill. he said i am doing good and he may not give me one like i was told he would on my 6th week visit. i am discouraged. i want a fill. i think i need one to. he told me to eat only a cup of food, 3 times a day. how do you do this with no restriction? any suggestions? i told him that i am hungry and that i would like a fill two weeks from today and he started with this Fills are not majic speech. I am trying hard, exercising, changed what i eat, vitimans, etc. but he made it sound like i was out of line asking for a fill when i am do one. did anyoen of you guys have surgeons that were very consertive on the fills? thanks.

    When Strangers attack ....

these stories are to funny. the one about the old guy is just horriable. man oh man, the things i would still be doing to that jerk off. God forbid that happened to me and i managed to get a hold of his address. oh, it would be onnnnnnnnnn.....i hate wal mart to . i also hate cell phones. i mean, HATE, HATE, HATE cell phones. i don't own one, never have, never will. it is something about them that , well, besides the wrecks i have almost been in by people talking on them while driving, that makes me go insane. i can be shopping and of course, down every lane, you have two or 10 people standing around with their buggies blocking the way for other customers while they are talking on their cell. i have to admit, when i say excuse me and they dont' budge cause they are to busy being inconsiderate and talking on the damn phone, i have rammed quite a few with my buggy. i just ram them and keep on going. man i hate those cell phones. i guess i am one of those crazy wal mart shoppers.
  23. i have a very, very consertive surgeon. i have a 14 cc band. i have had only one fill but it was almost 8 weeks after surgery and he put in 1cc. and he expects to me lose 3 to 4 pounds a week on that. what a crock. i have lost 17 pounds, i was banded 11-30-07 and i have been at 260 for the last 2 weeks. but i have noticed i am losing inches. i have gotten discouraged and started some bad eating habits back but i am trying to get back on the wagon. i go and see him again next week and i am hopeing he will put atleast 2 cc's in.
  24. let me tell you my experience. i will make a long story short. my first surgeon that i choose to do my lapband couldn't do it cause he was not covered by my insurance company. I found another surgeon in a small town. won't metion his name but i wish i had found someone else. i already had approval, just needed a surgeon. got all my information to that surgeon, paid 200.00 for consultation. i had a pre op appt then i get a call from the surgery coordinator, very slow girl, anyway, she tells me that my surgeon may not do the surgery because my insurance company doesn't pay very well for it. she then tried to convince me to have the RNY. i waited two days for them to make a decision. she calls me back and say, oh, it was a mistake, i got the wrong rates. we will do the surgery after all. okay, i am 7 weeks post op. my surgeon is a damn jerk. he hates giving fills and loves making you think you are a failure. i have lost 20 pds and had my first fill 3 days ago and he was disgusted that he had to give me that fill. let's just put it this way, if you are looking into having your surgery in a little town in Alabama called ALABASTER, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. you will not get the support you need and you will not get the fills that you need either and they will try to talk you into RNY.
  25. I have read alot about first fills not working and feeling no restriction at all and I was wondering, is there anyone out there who had restriction after their first fill and resulted in weight loss? i have my first fill 1-9-08 and I don't want to get my hopes up that i will feel a difference and start losing. also, should I eat the morning of my fill? please help.....need answers.... thanks.
