Insurance approval

Hi everyone I'm new here and at the beginning of my journey. I have completed the seminar and application so far but haven't had an appointment yet. I have Teamcare (BCBSIL) insurance through my husband's employer and I'm just wondering how soon I'll be able to have the surgery. Will the insurance company make me do 6-12 months of nutrition classes and appointments. Is there anyone out there who has Teamcare that knows how the process goes? My BMI is well ove 50 and I have struggle with my weight all my life.

Teamcare is what UPS employee insurance is called. Their medical is through BCBSIL. I'm hoping that I not be required to do anything super extra to get approval. You experience gives me hope. Thanks

So I have BCBSIL and they do NOT require any type of long term program before being approved for surgery...however I am not sure what Teamcare is... so it may be different. As for me.. I had my very first appointment with the surgeon on January 8th. Everything that was required was submitted to insurance on January 28th and I was approved on January 30th.
