Shoulder pain and pressure

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new to the sleeve group and 5 weeks post surgery. I feel honored and privileged to learn more about the bariatric pal community and the courage, resolve and authenticity you regularly share. While very much a rookie in all this... I do hope, I too, can be of value and an encouragement to others.

Question: I continue to experience an odd sensation upon my shoulders, especially when preparing meals, walking any distance or i.e. wrapping a present yesterday on the kitchen island. It feels like a ton of pressure weighing down on my entire body. I did have tremendous pain in the left shoulder from the drainage tube days after surgery. It was not gas. I never had any shoulder or back issues previous to surgery. Any thoughts on this?

AS I lost weight I experienced a lot of pain in my back and shoulders. I think it has to do with losing weight and starting to carry my weight differently. I suggest asking your doctor. It's important to know that physically you are okay to exercise. I realized my pain was my body adjusting to losing weight and being able to walk better. As I gained more movement, the pain lessened. Do get it checked out.

I would consult your dr about the pain. Sometimes loosing that much weight the skin sets differently on your body and actually can pull causing pain or discomfort. Hope you find relief soon.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
