I am planning for when I have the VSG surgery and am wondering if one week is enough time off of work. I have a 9-5 desk job so it is not the pain I am worried about. But more the emotional toll of being on a liquid only diet and

I took 2 1/2 weeks off and for the first week back was pretty tired. If I could do it over, I would take 3 weeks. One week doesn’t seem adequate unless you do nothing but work and sleep.

I only had 6 days off - surgery on Thursday and went back to work the following Friday. I agree with others that everyone one is different and I too only have a desk job. I only took pain meds the first day after surgery when I got home, nothing after that. I also did not lie around in bed. I was up and walking or even just sitting in a chair. Liquids only were easier at work, you stay busy and just sip all day long at your desk.
