I had my bypass10 weeks ago and I have been stuck at the same weight for over 1 month. I'm doing everything right so I wanted to know if this is normal? Will I be the only failed gastric bypass patient? I've lost 38 pounds since surgery. I'm past frustrated and just depressed at this point. TIA :(

You say you are doing everything right. Let me ask you the following.
What's your BMR?
What's your average daily intake?
What's your average daily burn?
What's the average amount of Protein you are getting day?
What's the average amount of Water you are getting day?

I don't know half of what you just asked me. All I know is I'm getting 100 oz Water a day and eating 800 calories a day per my nutritionist and my protien is 60 to 80 per day. Also I don't have money for a gym so i and I have bone issues so I'm only allowed to walk right now which I do everyday and it's usually 2 to 3 miles per day All the other stuff you asked I don't know what that is

Everything I asked you, you should know.
BMR = Basal Metabolic Rate. This is how much energy/calories your body needs just to exist, think "in a coma" alive, but not moving, this is an important number. BMR decreases as we age and as we lose weight. So pay attention to this number.
https://www.active.com/fitness/calculators/bmr

Your daily intake, this is how many calories you are consuming total.

Your daily burn, this is how many calories you are burning a day, this is BMR + normal activities + exercising.

You stated your Protein amounts, 60-80 is good.

Your Water is decent too. I'd try to see if you can increase that, we require lots of water just to function, adding healing, diet changes, exercising, increase our requirements and since our body uses water to breakdown and remove fat, you want enough to support your minimum requirements as well as allowing extra for fat loss.

Are you tracking your body fat %?

You don't need money for a gym. You can lift things you find around your house. A gallon of water is around 10 lbs and comes with it's own handle.

When was the last time you checked in with your nutritionist and do they know you haven't lost anything in over month? They might want you to adjust your diet.

Stalls are normal. They are a normal part of weight loss. There is much more to losing weight than calories burned minus calories eaten, and this has been proven.

No ones basal metabolic rate is below 800 calories a day as a normal adult with a normal muscle mass.

I have been stalled for a month myself, and it is extremely frustrating. All you can do is keep following your plan and trust in the process. I know this is easier said than done when you are the one in a stall. It can be so hard to stay positive.

Hope it breaks soon for you, just know you aren’t alone.

Okay here is my philosopy, I'm 72 so I am philosopical, goes with my age! You have heard weight loss is not so much a sprint but a marathon? That's true but let me interject another truth. You are not built as a 🚀 rocket ship, more like a old junky jalopy.🚘 Instead of losing whoosh, you chug a chug along. You feel like you are moving along down the weight loss highway and then you slow down. Every so often your body feels like it needs to realign, reboot if you will. And you temporarily stop losing weight, the inches usually diminish, you may replace fat with muscle, well known fact that muscle tissue weights more than fluffy puffy fat tissue, certainly it also is more healthy in the long run than adipose(scientific name for blubber!) tissue. So while your body is realigning, redefining what healthy is for IT you will be going OMG What is wrong with ME? If you are getting your fluids, following your medical given diet, getting adequate exercise, not tying yourself up in knots stressing about it, the pounds will soon start dropping again. One of my BARI-Buds which I regard as a mentor recently had one of these. When it broke, she lost 8 pounds kathunk, sure she had been losing inches but she was OVERJOYED when this happened. All is well now, and soon I go for my WONDER WEDNESDAY my very own REBIRTHDAY, and in a very few weeks or months I too will be singing the Stall Blues, only difference I will realise what it is and not get worried so much!

Stalls are all a part of the WL journey so don't get depressed - factor them in. I am currently on my second stall since my surgery in May. my first stall was around 5 to 6 weeks. Now mind you I have not been consistent on my treadmill and when I do that my weight loss kicks up. But I do my own property maintenance with a push lawn mower and a weed whacker and that burns a lot of calories with 1.5 acres! I have to start another set of mowing from tomorrow so maybe the WL will budge.

I am only 2.5 months out from surgery so not experienced per se but I have noticed that when I do exercise it seems to help push me out of the stalls. But as many who are far into their WL will tell you, stalls are all a part of it but they do end. Chin up

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
