One week post surgery everything makes me feel sick!

I had gastric sleeve on June 6 and I am telling you what everything I eat gives me stomach cramping all the way down. i have horrible diarrhea too. This is for the birds so far! I guess my appetite is curbed a bit, but I miss good food a lot!

My intake includes powerade, water, Premier Protein Clear water, cottage cheese, mashed cauliflower, sugar free pudding and sugar free popsicles. I am so bored of it already and it is driving me nuts. Please someone else tell me they feel the same!!!

I am still in pain where my incisions are as well. Ugh!!

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is the wiser choice for pain; ibuprofen can cause ulcers and should be avoided.

  • yes I was told strictly no Ibuprofen, Aleve etc. No NSAIDS ever again. This is what I am saying. The more I read the more things are all so different from different surgeons. It is all kind of a mess

I agree, the surgeons have so many different rules. My surgeon only had me use the ibuprofen for the first few days. I have my follow up appointment today. Can’t wait to see what food she adds! I mis

My response isn't from now but post pancreatitis, popsicles , super cold wATer teeny sips and bone broth and vegetable broth half strength.

Angi, I know exactly how you feel. The first few weeks out everything caused my stomach to cramp. The doctor gave me meds for it that didn't help. They told me to drink warm liquids and that didn't help. I was too afraid to advance my diet to soft foods for fear it would cramp worse but luckily (?) the cramps basically stayed at the same consistency. I'm 7 weeks out now and still have the cramping here and there but it's not as bad or frustrating as it first was.

I also have your fears of never being able to enjoy certain things again. I worry that I'll never feel "normal" again.

Hi Angi.

Were you given any anti-gas or any meds like Omeprazole for stomach acid? Those might help.
Hi Again! I had surgery on May 2, and just ate a small, but wonderful steak yesterday. Please note that it was very well chewed and eaten slowly!

It won’t be long! Hang in there!

Oh my goodness! you just gave me sooooo much hope!!! Thank you so much!

And yes I was given omeprazole but no anti-gas. I really need that though. I will have to get something for sure!

Omg steak??
The liquid diet is an awful part but you will get through!

@BajanSleeve I agree with the dressings, everyone in my family are nurses and the worse thing they said you can do is have is have everything covered especially covered with Neosporin, sounds weird but true. I agree about the cottage cheese too, after my surgery i suddenly became lactose intolerant, I just talked to my surgeon today about it.

And I'm still early out of the gate, but I know people that can enjoy more food and drink choices. I eat way different now and make really tasty and a huge variety but I cut out gluten etc and I (we) eat so little that it's can be frustrating seeing everyone scarf down something it took me hours to cook and I can eat 2 bites but hey I'm committed to a new lifestyle.
