Insurance Approval

All I am waiting on is for my insurance to approve my surgery. Does anyone know how long this typically takes?

Mine took just at a month, but i finally called and within 3 days of me calling i had my date.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app

From the time my surgeons office sent my docs to the insurance company it was about 4 days.

I thought my nurse had to submit everything first? Maybe I will call, I would be stoked if I could get surgery done in May!!

Mine was submitted and I found out in 2 days by calling the insurance company. Once I found out I was approved and emailed my surgeons team and they scheduled me right then.

Mine is taking forever.... my last appointment with the Surgeon was on 4/23. I was told that if I didn’t hear back in 1.5 weeks to give them a call. At the 2 week mark I called and was told that my file was still not back from the scribe and has not been submitted and was asked to check back at week three. Well, today marked week 3 and I called my Insurance first to see if they had the decision and they told me that the request was never submitted. I immediately called the office and was given the run around once more. They apologized for the delay and said that my file would be ready to submit to my Insurance (Aetna) by tomorrow. I was also told to allow my insurance 2-4 weeks to issue an approval. By the time I find out if I’m approved I will have been waiting 7 weeks. This is CRAZY!!! I am super frustrated.

OH NO!! I think I would have lost it and called them all Every. Single. Day!! Let's hope they approve quicker than they submitted!!

I have Cigna and it took about 4-5 days. I don't know the exact day the doctor submitted after my last appointment. I don't know if other insurance companies have this on their website but on myCigna.com you can follow the progress of your precertifications. Each day I could check and see that it was in progress and then it went to approved. The doctor had to provide a surgery date and that was listed there too. On the website it says precertifications take 5-10 days. Mine was on the quicker side of that. The waiting is terrible.
