Ask if you can do an over the counter option for your pre-surgical diet. There are many available. If they refuse, ask them to justify the expense and explain why an over the counter product works for other surgeons and why they feel their product is superior.

You can say...I want you to do the surgery, but I don't want to use your product. Please find me an alternative. It's that simple.

That said...my over the counter shakes cost about $140 for 14 days. Less at Sam's Club.

Sam's has a sale on Premier Protein until about March 25th-ish.

1 case = 12 bottles = 30g protein/bottle = $12.99/case = $1.08/bottle (cheaper than eating food--mostly)

You need between 2.5-3 bottles of this protein to meet your daily minimum. My surgeon and RD were great with this protein choice.

My program had me drinking 5 Premier Protein shakes a day for presurg liquid diet. (we were only allowed this, and clear liquid)

They're closer to $2 each here...but I didn't know about Sam's at the time. Wish I had!

Wow! That's 150g or protein a day. And me too on the clear liquids and protein drinks only. I had a target of 80-100g, but cuz I can have issues with too much protein, she told me to shoot for my personal protein goal of 74g...lol.
