Chocolate Peanut Butter Cricket Powder

75 calories....8.5g of protein. Sustainable and tasty (I'm told...I'll find out soon)

Hell, I'll eat crickets. Why not?

  • Sounds promising. Let us know how it tastes. I tried chili powdered crickets before and it was... interesting!

Never had chili powdered ones, did have barbeque ones. Crunchy and not too bad. Always wondered if I had natural, teeth if the crunchy hopper part would get stuck between them. Sent from my VS880PP us

I did! It wasn't bad at all, but it was a little gritty. I made the chocolate banana shake, and it was delicious. There was a nutty mild flavor to the crickets that surprised me. I expected them

But... why? And is the iron heme or non-heme?

I will seriously never understand the obsession our society has with bizarre supplements. Just... eat food. Mostly plants. No crickets required.

Crickets are an awesome source of protein and they're a lot easier on the environment than cows and pigs.

Crickets are also a lot closer to what our guts are naturally designed to digest. The great apes eat a lot of insects.

Just sayin'

Legumes are an awesome source of protein. Brown rice, peas, and soybeans (the 6% that aren't grown to feed cows & pigs, that is) are also easy on the environment. These are all normal, natural foods that aren't freakin' crickets, and you can find plenty of protein powders made from them. I mean, I'm not trying to be a vegan a*****e, but I just don't get it.

And gorillas, elephants, and rhinos eat exclusively plants, so what's your point?

You need to do more research on gorillas:)

I'll do that, but I still don't see the relevance. Enjoy your crickets? :P

They're honestly pretty damned good. They're kinda nutty and make a great replacement for almond flavor in my favorite smoothies:) They're growing on me.

When I was at the bulk food store this weekend, I noticed some cricket protein bars. I'm going to give them a shot sometime soon. :)
