I have seen some say they didn't have to do the preop diet and some that do... what determines whether you have to or not?

I dont have a seminar till 10/25 so trying to learn all that I can.

It depends on your surgeon.. Some require it some dont. My dr required a 2 week LD.. I lost 18lbs on it!

If your BMI is 45 or higher, then most doctors require you to be on a liver shrinking diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. Doing so helps shrink the liver making the surgery easier & safer as well.

The doctor I am consulting with said he only requires a 2 day liquid diet, but most I have seen on here say 2 weeks. Don't know why he doesn't require that, but I plan to find out.

i am on the two week liquid diet right now and i'm only on day 3........it sucks.....lol...wish my dr. was one of the dr.s that didnt require it...lol

I only had to do liquids the day before the surgery. It just depends on your surgeon (mine didn't require a pre-op diet for any BMI).

My surgeon is requiring me to do a 10 day liquid fast beginning next Sat. I am NOT looking forward to it but he said he needs to shrink my liver before surgery.
