Gallbladder

I know rapid weight loss can cause gallbladder issues. For those of you who had to have your gallbladders removed, what were your symptoms? And how was the recovery?

I need mine out but I'm trying to wait until next year due to work. I don't have any stones but I was having pain so the doc gave me a HIDA scan and the results came back abnormal with an Ejection Fraction of 86% (normal per my surgeon is in the 30-60% range). Since I don't have stones my surgeon is comfortable letting me manage the pain and we will be removing the gallbladder after the 1st of the year.

Interesting! I only had ultrasound. Maybe if I ask for a HIDA scan it will give a better indication of how my gallbladder is functioning and if that's really the culprit.

Never heard of a HIDA scan before now. I will have to look into it. Thanks!

I had an ultrasound first and it came back normal results, per the radiologist they saw no stones but I was still having the pain. My surgeon said that ultrasounds are not the most conclusive and ordered the HIDA scan and that came back abnormal.
