My first egg

Just ate my first scrambled egg post op...they were tiny (farm fresh) so I made two...could only eat 1/2...it was delicious and I felt full so I stopped...now it’s a little heavy in my stomach but it is the first thing I’ve eaten that resembles solid food and I think my stomach is still trying to figure out what to do with it.

  • You think that is a deal! We own a 70 acre pasture that our neighbor takes some of his hay for his cattle in exchange for all the farm eggs we can eat, We have 4 teenagers in the house so we probably

But except for protein, all the nutrients are in the yolks! That’s why I buy farm fresh eggs with those gorgeous orange yolks! Not to mention I think egg whites alone are gross...my tummy is adapting.

  • I remember that day! Even at one year post-op, I can't eat 2 large eggs. I need more than 1 large egg, so I started buying the jumbo eggs. 1 of those works out just perfectly.

Au Contraire, mon ami...Taste is a matter of opinion, and there are actually so few micronutrients in eggs overall that it really doesn't matter.
To compare 1 large egg vs. 2 egg whites:
1egg has 71 calories, 5g fat, 6.3g protein, & 70% of a days suppy of Cholesterol.
It has 14% of thr RDA of Riboflavin, 11% of b12, 23% of selenium, and 10% of phosphorus. All other vitamin percentages that it provides are 7% or less of the rda...Not enough to make a difference.
2 egg whites have 34 calories, 0g fat, 7.1g protein, & 00000000 Cholesterol.
It doesn't really have any vitamins, but adding 1/4 cup of spinach to it blows your egg's vitamin count out of the water.
So, less than half the calories, 0 fat, 0 cholesterol and more protein!
BOOOOMMMM!!!!!!!!

You are right. Taste is a matter of opinion. And I said it’s great if you like that but to ME they are vile. Not disputing that others are free to like them...just asking people not to tell me to.

You made two eggs? Can i ask how far out you are? Eggs are soo filling for me three months out im a small mouthfull away from a whole egg haha

unless i make egg whites 2 ounce 1 ounce cheese 1 ounce spinnach yum

First, let me say they were two tiny eggs, not like what you buy in the supermarket.

I am three weeks out and thought it unlikely I could eat it all, which I couldn’t come close...but this is all new to me...I knew what I didn’t eat wouldn’t go to waste!

  • 1 month later...

Your post made me laugh! I remember how excited I was when I was cleared for eggs! I made two eggs over medium and sat down eagerly to eat them. My husband looked at my teeny plate and serving and said "there's no way you'll be able to eat that!"

Sure enough, I got most of the way through egg #1 in about 10 minutes and I was DONE. Stuffed. But because of my husband, I stubbornly kept trying. I sat there for another 30 minutes and managed to get about 4-5 more bites in (an egg and change over that entire time).

I can now do 2 eggs with relative ease, but that initial meal was a doozy! I'm almost 6 months out and it still is hilarious how little I can eat.

I’m still at the point of very little food at a time. Some days I can’t even eat a whole egg, but it is getting easier...as long as I remember to go super slow, it’s not as uncomfortable to eat.
