  • My doctor goes by weight at first appointment so weight lost in the pre op period doesn't count "against" you

  • Does your dr use a biometric scale? If not, it's easy to add a few lbs. Go at the end of the day. Wear a Jean jacket. Fill up on water. Add weights to a sports bra. Your concern is legit!

Just eat a huge meal immediately before your appointment. I had one appointment where I was sick and hadn't eaten or drank anything in over 24 hours and my BMI was like 0.3 too low. I then told the doctor I was sick and hadn't eaten or drank and they recommended I get some food and water in me as that wasn't my accurate weight.

There's tons of things you can do before adding weights. Wear heavy boots, two pairs of pants, a hoody, eat lots of fluids and liquids etc

That's crazy! I'm so sorry

- No idea what I'm doing but I'm here! :)

I am facing the same thing right now. I am at a 40.3 BMI with comorbidities that are not on the insurance list, but my surgeons says mine usually count with this insurance company. With comorbidities I can get down to a 35, without them I'd need to be a 40. I am safe as long as I don't dip below 40 BMI, that is a 2 pound change from my last appointment. My surgeons office said if I gain at all, the insurance company will deny the surgery and if I lose more than those 2 lbs I lose my surgery. My final appointment is in 3 weeks and I am weighing myself daily, Im really worried that I will lose my surgery :(
