Falling back into emotional eating

Recommended Posts

Last week I got some disappointing news and found myself eating some French fries left behind by my family from their dinner. While I wouldn't usually beat myself up about this, I noticed that it was completely connected to my emotions. I wasn't hungry, I wasn't even craving the fries. I was feeling down and automatically reached for the fries.

Today, I found out that one of my kids has been lieing to me, which caused an array of emotions ranging from sadness to anger, and again my mind went to food. I recognized it and didn't feed my emotions, but still, I have discovered that the potention for that pattern still exists inside me and so I had to vent to the only people that could possible understand.

@cantseemytoesI've been finding myself emotionally eating as well. Also, I find that when I'm losing weight...like I deserve to eat bad as a reward and that is terrible...I'm working on it. If I lose weight I tell my boyfriend "let's go out and celebrate" like that's sooo bad. I'm in a similar situation to you. Dealing with stress of work, school and relationships have caused me to want to revert back to eating for coping and it's super tough. I can totally relate to you. Someone told me that I should remind myself how much I spent on this surgery and how I felt before the surgery....why do we want to go back to that? I think mind over matter and we just have to be stronger and not let things that hurt us cause us to hurt ourselves by over indulging and eating bad again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
