Hi All! I'm new here so my bad if I post something incorrectly...My surgeon's office submitted all required paperwork for a vsg to Regence BCBS of Oregon on 8.18 (last Friday) and as of this afternoon my "case is still under review". The Regence rep I spoke to said it can take up to 15 calendar days to reach a decision; which puts me at 9.1 at the latest to hear back. For those with Regence, or any other plan for that matter, how long did you have to wait to get your approval? Like I said, I'm new but I've got lots of stories to tell about the past 7 MONTHS I've spent fulfilling the vsg requirements Thanks & TTYL!

I have called them everyday since then lol... actually about to called them in a few minutes .. I got that standard letter that they send out after they get the pre-cert request..... right about now I need some good news this has been an emotional past 2 weeks for me....

I hope your approval comes soon! You're just like me, I've called 2x every day. One of these days I'm gonna wind up talking to the same rep but oh well. It makes me feel better to call on my own to check than wait impatiently for a call from the surgeons office!!

Here in WA state the law is for insurance companies to review and notify member of a prior authorization decision in 5 calendar days...but I think each company can change their specific policy depending on what service is requested. It sucks 'cause I feel like the insurance prior auth people are looking for reasons NOT to cover surgery instead of helping us out. Kinda backwards if you ask me but they are in the business of making money, not losing it :-/ Good luck on your next call! LOL

so I was denied they said some of my NUT notes were missing and my mental health notes were missing... ALLLLL BS but my surgeons office resent everything all over again so another 7-10 business days

Well, I know that for my insurance provided (as an employee of the State of Colorado), I know I did my dietary clearance on Friday, the 11th and I got notified by my surgeon's office that I was approved on the 18th. According to them, they probably didn't submit it to the insurance company on the 11th as I did my dietary clearance in the afternoon but at most, it took me a week to get the approval from insurance.

When you guys called your insurance company to check in what did you ask? It's been a week for me and I'm dying to call I just don't know what to ask them.

that you wanted to check the status for approval for bariatric surgery and let them know when the surgeons office sent over all the required paperwork

I been waiting since 8/15... just called it's still under review. I'm just so nervous. Hope everyone gets approved.

I just called my actual insurance because I was going nuts and she said told me I was APPROVED too!! it's a great day for approvals! Congrats girl!
