  9. I was told absolutely no laxatives because they’re very bad for your stomach. My surgeon has me taking mirilax every day to help my system boost back up. I am over a month post op and still constipated. I only go about once a week if even! I didn’t have my first bm until exactly a week post op. Hang in there and just make sure you’re drinking enough water. -Mallorie
  10. Girl same! I am a month and a week post op and have been stalled for the past 2 weeks. I have lost 13 pounds since surgery on September 12. I am so discouraged because I honestly could have gotten this far without surgery, but I know that I am still healing and that the weight loss will continue. I have been fighting with the same 3 pounds since week 3! -Mallorie

  23. I'm set for September 12th but still waiting for approval from insurance. Starting to get anxious because it's been a week since everything was submitted
  24. When you guys called your insurance company to check in what did you ask? It's been a week for me and I'm dying to call I just don't know what to ask them.
  25. Hey! Congrats on starting your journey. I went to my seminar last November and had my first surgeons appointment in February of this year. I started my 6 nutrition visits in march and had my 6th this month! It went by so fast. My surgeons office sent over my paperwork to Husky on Thursday last week and I am still waiting to hear back. I'm getting very anxious and scared because I know a lot of people hear back within a couple days and it's Already been a week. I stuck to my nutritionists plans very well and ended up losing 30 pounds between the 6 visits. I am where I wanted to be for surgery. As soon as I had my last nutrition visit I called my surgeons office to let them know and a couple days later they called me saying they were submitting my papers to my insurance. You can always start the nutrition visits before seeing your surgeon for the first time to get everything started early. I am using Dr. Pirrello through st Francis hospital in Hartford. He is a great guy and I trust him. You can expect the process to take 6-12 months depending on when you have your first appointment. I would recommend calling as soon as you can after your seminar because I had to wait almost 3 months for an appointment. I have a bmi of about 54 but no comorbidities which most people would be happy about but I am afraid that it will play against me with insurance. I hope to hear back by next Tuesday or else I will call and see what is going on. Hope this helped a little bit! You can always message me with any questions or email @ darlingmallorie@gmail.com I am always open to talking and making local friends because it is important to have a support system.
  26. I am still on Husky and just had my papers submitted to insurance on Thursday so I am waiting to hear back. How long did it take for you to hear back and how did it go?
  27. Just wondering if anyone here has gone through or is going through the process of getting approved in Connecticut and has husky insurance. I am just starting my journey and I may have the opportunity for a full time job with benefits, but I currently have husky d. Just wondering how likely I am to be approved on husky/Medicaid? 28. Hey all! I will find out if my insurance will cover my surgery next month so I'm looking at back up plans. I have been doing some research into doctors in Mexico, but I welcome any and all recommendations of doctors and facilities. If you have bad stories I welcome them as well. Also has anyone that had the sleeve surgery in Mexico opted to have Medical Tourism insurance?? I keep seeing stuff for it everywhere but I'm not really sure what it is and how much extra will it cost? Any and all input is appreciated!! thanks in advance!! 29. I know, my insurance is actually through the state not an employer because I'm part time. I was just seeing if anyone had gone through this with a state insurance because I keep getting mixed stories Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  30. Silentbotts that's good to hear! I have ppo through the state and I hear good things about anthem but when I look at my plan it says that it excludes weight loss surgery but everything else I see through their website says that they cover the surgery. I guess I'll find out next month Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  31. Has anyone gotten approved or been told that anthem blue cross blue shield will cover any kind of surgery in CT. I have anthem through the state because I am part time and I keep getting conflicting stories. I have my first consult with my surgeon February 17th and it is an anthem blue distinction center plus so I feel like they should cover part of the surgery, but because I have state insurance I don't think they do. I hear good things about bcbs in other states, but CT doesn't require insurance companies to offer weight loss surgery. My backup plan is Mexico but I'd much rather just have surgery on my own state. I'm going to a Saint Francis hospital in Hartford. Thanks in advance! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
