Ready to Run-Just my thoughts

Recommended Posts

I'm a 30yr old woman who is full of life yet my 400lb body makes me sit on the sideline in just about every area of my life. I'm about 2 more months of doctors appointments away from submitting to my insurance for approval and I'm just so nervous.

Not nervous that they'll say "No" but nervous that once I officially start the shakes and the countdown that I'll be alone. My family doesn't live here and we are slowly starting to build a relationship but I'm not so sure that they can and will be able to assist me. I know I have a support system like no other in terms of colleagues and friends but I'm still working through feelings of not being worth their time. Or not knowing how to be vulnerable.

I'm also so nervous about who I'll be post this surgery. Will I still be loving and kind or was that a mask to compensate for the weight. I dream of being a comedian and I wonder will I lose my sense of humor once the weight leaves me too. I am working so hard to mentally prepare for the unknown that I really haven't done a good amount of research on the actual life of a person with the sleeve. I know shakes and purees and a scrambled egg, but then what? I'm just hoping to find a community here maybe even some New Yorkers, who can be a support team for each other as majority of my friends and colleagues never had a weight issue quite like mine. It felt really good to say all of this so thanks for whomever is listening.

I am in the process of waiting for insurance approval. I am scheduled for surgery August 24th. I am also tired of sitting on the side lines. I want my life back and I am ready to fight for it. Good luck on your journey.

Hi Chloe, I too am a transplant (NC to TX). My best friend lives here so that has made this a little easier for me. But by the way you speak, your beauty is from your heart, not based on looks. I'd bet you're going to be the same kind, sweet person you've always been, just in a smaller body. Best of Luck.

@ChloeLives4 Take a deep breath darling. <breathe> Your emotions are all over the map.

#1 Check with the bariatric team to see if they have counselors or can recommend someone so you can work through these emotions.

#2 Schedule sessions with the team's Nutritionist, thst person will give you all the info on the eating stages before and after surgery.

#3 Go on YouTube and look for Dr. Anthony Weiner - he explains all of it.

There will be scary and amazing changes ahead in your life, take it one step at a time.

Good luck.

If anything, you will have more material to joke about when you get thinner. I too am an aspiring stand up comedian. My town has a monthly open stand up. I'm writing down my experiences before and after I get the surgery and during the whole fat to thin me. Hugs to you girl. You will be sensational!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
