Carbonated (Sparkling) Water, yes or no?

I have trouble drinking standard water, and so I have started drinking sparkling flavored water. My fiancé just showed me a YouTube video of a gentlemen about to take the bariatric journey and one of the things he said is no carbonated beverages whatsoever. Is this true? What are your thoughts on this? I had surgery five years ago and just recently started drinking the flavored sparkling water.

No. No carbonated beverages. I use Crystal Light instead in regular water.

Your stomach will expand and you will lose the tool you've worked so hard for :(

No!

My surgeon said that I could have flat drinks. So I make my sparkling water flat before I drink it. Just burp the bottle until all the bubbles are gone.

I was told as long as it's flat I could drink it. But I haven't had anything like that since I was pre-op. It expands your stomach/pouch if it's not flat. Something I don't need right now.

I am allowed NO carbonation! It can expand your pouch. I don't like plain water either so I use either Crystal Light or Mio flavoring. Or I have decaf ice tea.
