Columbus Area

Is it me or is it close to impossible to find other Lapbanded people in our area?

I've met others with the band, but they are from California, Florida, Indiana and Michigan. My surgeon's support group for WLS are all gastric bypass folks. Our needs and experiences are so vastly different, I want to meet up with other people going through the same stuff!

I know I can NOT be the only person in the nation's 15th largest city to have had this procedure.

Reply if you're local!

For those of you who don't know, there is a nice plus size consignment shop out on Brice Rd. just north of Livingston Ave. and on the West side of Brice.

I called today - Nov 10th to get an appointment to start doing some consignment with them and was shocked to find they are booked up with appointments until March 6, 2009! So I can't consign my fall/winter things I had already to take into them but I do have a big bag ready for spring.

WOW - I had no idea I'd have to wait almost 5 months.

Maybe we need to arrange some type of garage sale for bypass and band people from the columbus area...maybe this is something Missy might be willing to help with, or do after a meeting?

I tried the Blue Raspberry Isopure Zero Carb protein drink in a glass bottle yesterday and it was pretty good. Thought I'd try it since others had said that for 160 calories it got them 40g of protein in. Well, interesting enough, I thought okay this is protein but its liquid and its going right through me so I'll still be hungry enough to eat a lunch about 1-1:30 with my Mom at this nice restaurant she picked out that we had not been to in a long time. Wrong -- even an hour later, I ate this tiny roll they served before our meal and then had a small roasted half chicken, rice, and baby carrots and I only got maybe 10 bites (small ones) into my meal and I was so full I couldn't stand it. Ended up in the restroom with a mini-PB episode which my Mom was not wise to...thank goodness... because she was paying. I took the other 3/4 of my meal in a take home box but really didn't want it. So, beware I guess that the Isopure protein drink really does fill you up even if you think its just liquid. I keep learning new lessons as I go along.

Hey out there. If you live in the north Columbus area and are interested in seeing the new gym that will be openingo on December 28, they gave a few of us some passes to take a friend along. PM me here at this website if you'd like to go. Its December 27th.

Here is the link to the support group meetings Mt. Carmel holds in the Columbus area. Its in an auditorium format and they do ask the Mt. Carmel folks to sign in but if you aren't with them, just walk on in.... crash the party.

I'm a speaker at the Jan 7th meeting at Mt. Carmel EAST Siegel Center 6pm.

Correction to the above Posting --- this is Mt. Carmel's Information or Orientation sessions schedule for 2009. The support group meetings for Mt. Carmel still are on the 1st Monday of the month at Mt. Carmel West.

Thanks for the update, Kathy.

You're really quite amazing at keeping us current. You're enthusiasm is delightful.

Hi Niki,

Do you need lg scrubs, I have some if you want them as I am

into mediums now. How are you doing. I haven't been on for a while because of family issues. Just let me know I can bring them with me at the next polaris meet. I am going to try to get my recently banded son-in-law and his wife(my daughter ) to come and join us.

opps sorry Nikki you are probably in meds or smalls also!!!

I just saw your ticker and you are now doing better than I am. I still have 40 lbs to go!!! Great job!!!

 I really didn't get any interest from either calls or emails to the scrapbooking event and demonstration of how to build an album of our weight loss journey so I've cancelled what I had planned to offer on January 10 at 10am at my church and I'll see you guys at the Polaris get together.

If anyone is interested in just a small group of scrapbookers getting together, PM or email me and I'd gladly host it.

Tyanna, great to hear from you. Hope your family is doing well now. Looking forward to seeing you in January and that's wonderful about your having family members now who are in the bandsters group too.

Where do you take water aerobics? Sounds like you have a lot of fun. I have been thinking about starting and now sounds like as good a time as any.

Thanks.

Shawn
